A great Western Conference matchup features James Harden and the Rockets against Russell Westbrook and the Thunder in Oklahoma City.
Houston beat the 76es in their last game while Oklahoma City have lost 4 in a row.
The teams split the season series last year, which every game featuring both teams score over 100 points.
Houston Rockets
Houston is a surprise contender to reach the second round of the playoffs in the West. They fueled by Mike D’Antoni’s high powered offense, and led by one of the best pure scorers in the league.

With all of the bad headlines last year for the Rockets, James Harden was a forgotten man among the West’s elite, now he is at the front of a list of very strong candidates for MVP.
The first, second, and 3rd scoring option for the Rockets, Harden has been the best playmaker in the league this year.
He is averaging 12 assists to go along with his 30 points and 8 rebounds per game. He will be guarded heavily by Russell Westbrook this game, and it should be one of the best matchups in the early part of the season.
Consistently injured guard Eric Gordon has been a great pickup for the Rockets. He is averaging 16 points and 3 rebounds per game, and can give Harden the second true scorer that he has desperately needed on the team.
If Gordon can keep shooting from behind the arc as he has the last couple of games, the Rockets shouldn’t have trouble breaking this game open.

The Rockets will need to shore up their interior defense after their win against the Sixers.
They allowed Joel Embiid to get 13 points and 10 rebounds in limited minutes, and can’t afford to give Enes Kanter a lot of easy looks as he can light up the scoreboard in a hurry.
Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder are losers of 4 straight and can’t seem to win games even with Russell Westbrook putting up historic numbers.
The All League point guard had 33 points, 15 rebounds, 8 assists and 7 turnovers in the loss to the Pistons. This game had all of the good of Westbrook (a near triple double again), and the bad of Westbrook (7 turnovers).
He will have a great matchup against Houston as they don’t have anyone outside of Trevor Ariza who is remotely close to be able to contain him on the offensive side of the ball. Expect another triple double from the talented guard.
Victor Oladipo is in a bit of a shooting slump during the losing streak, and it reached new heights as he was just 4-17 from the field and 1-7 from 3 point range in the loss to Detroit.
His numbers are right around his career average so there isn’t reason to panic yet but you do wonder why he kept taking shots if it simply wasn’t falling, and Westbrook was having an efficient night.

He will match up most of the night against Eric Gordon, so his athleticism will make him an easy candidate to get 20 points if he consistently attacks the rim, and not take bad 3 point shots.
