This is it for the Rockets. One last chance to keep their season alive, but it will need to be done in one of the most hostile environments in the league. They will be without their heart and soul as Steph Curry has a Grade-1 sprain of his MCL and should be out for at least two weeks.
Can the Rockets muster up enough offense to do the unthinkable? Beat the Warriors at home. Let’s dive in and take a look.
Houston Rockets
If the Rockets were to ever have an opportunity, the time is now. With Curry out of the question, it may provide Houston with some motivation to play to their potential and maybe steal one on the road.
Houston’s offense has had two major issues that have prevented them from being competitive in this series. Their secondary scoring has disappeared and they have shot the ball very inefficiently in every game this series.

Take a look at the Rockets team field goal percentage through the series’ first four games: 35.7, 44.3, 39.1, and 42.3.
While it’s typical to expect lower shooting percentages in hard fought playoff series, there’s no way to win games when you can’t break 45% against a prolific offense.
As mentioned, the secondary scoring has been nearly non-existent. Only James Harden has scored more than 15 points per game and only two other players (Howard and Beasley) have even madei t to double digits.
Houston as a team was the league’s 4th highest scoring team in the regular season team at 106.5 PPG and their current playoff output has seen them drop to 93.5.
By comparison their opponent scored 114.9 during the season and has still managed an impressive 109.5 in the playoffs.
If the Rockets can’t find a way to share the ball and score with greater efficiency, Game 5 will mark a sad end to the season for the Rockets.
Golden State Warriors
The door might be open the slightest crack for the Rockets as they teeter on the brink of elimination. In one quick instant, the NBA’s greatest regular season team just lost the NBA’s greatest player for at least two weeks.
The ramifications might not be felt against the Rockets but it could cause them serious problems if they run into the Clippers.
The Warriors have shown that they are capable of winning without Curry.
They made it look easy in Game 2. Klay Thompson took on the role of alpha dog and the Warriors didn’t skip a beat. In Game 4, after Curry went down the Warriors came into the second half tied with the Rockets and proceeded to win the game by 27 points with their MVP on the bench.

The Warriors once again won the game with the formula that has made them so tough to beat.
They shared the ball and they shot the lights out from downtown. They totaled 38 assists on 46 baskets made on the night and they shot a ridiculous 52.5% from behind the arc.

Free Houston Rockets vs. Golden State Warriors NBA Prediction:
The Warriors haven’t lost back-to-back games all season, so it’s difficult to see the Rockets winning THREE consecutive, even without Curry.

All this being said, look for the Warriors to rally around their star and ride the energy of the league’s best crowd to close out the Rockets and await the winner of L.A and Portland in Round 2.
