When are people going to start believing in the Denver Nuggets? Mike Malone’s team sits in first place in the Western Conference (tied with the Clippers) but still aren’t considered elite compared to the Warriors, Thunder, Rockets, or even Lakers. The Nuggets can keep chugging along with a solid road win tonight at Orlando.
The Magic are 6-6 at home this season but are at a huge disadvantage Wednesday in a B2B situation after a 105-90 win over the Heat on Tuesday. That was Orlando’s 2nd straight victory, but they’ll be back home tonight after just having been on the road for six straight games. Does fatigue lend itself to the Magic being blown out tonight?
Denver Nuggets
Denver will be well rested on Wednesday, playing just their 2nd game in the last 5 days while Orlando is in a back-to-back situation. The Nuggets also have the advantage of blowing out Orlando 112-87 on November 23rd. Denver scored that 25 point win despite just 20 total points from the combo of Paul Millsap and Nikola Jokic.

The Nuggets not only have a dominating win over Orlando in the past two weeks, they also have the momentum of a six game winning streak. Jokic was thoroughly dominating last time out in a 106-103 win at Toronto as he went for 23 points, 11 rebounds, and an astonishing 15 assists. The Nuggets preceded that with a 113-112 win in Portland scoring back-to-back victories in two of the toughest places to get wins in the league.
The Nuggets have built their successful season on efficiency. They boast a top 10 field goal percentage shooting team in the NBA at 46.5%. Denver has also shot 39% and 46% from three point range the last two games so they are finding their long range stroke a bit. That’s not what Orlando wants to hear ahead of Wednesday night’s game.

As good as the Nuggets offense has been, it’s their defense that is fueling win after win. The Nuggets rank 2nd in the league in points/game allowed and have held five of the last six opponents to 103 points or less. Orlando is only the 25th highest scoring team in the NBA and they should struggle a) in a back to back and b) vs. Denver’s #1 ranked defense in opposing 3-point percentage.
The only danger to Denver tonight is complacency after two huge wins at Portland and Toronto. Being in a tie for 1st with the Clippers should be enough motivation for the Nuggets.
Orlando Magic
Orlando scored a solid win over the Heat on Tuesday but they must turn around right away and do it again against one of the NBA’s best teams. One good thing about the Magic coming off a 6-game West Coast road trip is that they’ve played just one of those games in the last 5 days. Back-to-back’s are tough, but not as bad when you’re playing 3 hours down the coast in South Beach as Orlando did on Tuesday.
Wednesday night’s O/U is just 207 which is just as much a testament to the Magic defense as it is the Nuggets. Orlando has held two straight opponents to 90 points or less and have limited 4 of the last 7 to 104 or below. Orlando is a top 6 team in points/allowed per game but can they keep up that efficiency while a bit fatigued?

Speaking of the tired Magic, two of their best players logged serious minutes last night as Nikola Vucevic (33:02) and Aaron Gordon (34:32) saw plenty of court time. The top two reserves Jonathan Isaac and Terrence Ross had a combined 60+ minutes so Orlando may be losing some of their depth vs. the Nuggets.
NBA Betting Trends:
- Nuggets are 4-0 ATS their last four road games
- Nuggets are 6-0 ATS their last six overall
- Magic are 5-0 ATS their last five home games
- Magic are 4-0 ATS their last four vs. Western Conference
Free Denver Nuggets vs. Orlando Magic NBA Prediction:
The Magic are in a tough spot in a B2B but the Nuggets -5 seems like too easy of a play. Orlando is 6-4 their last 10 but three of those losses came by 6 points or less – and vs. good teams (Toronto, Portland, Golden State). The Magic have the talent to keep things close.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Magic +5.5
Orlando is tired, but should find energy playing in their 1st home game since November 20th. Denver will have a letdown after two solid road wins.
