2016-2017 NBA Previews – Nuggets Odds
Looking for 2016 Denver Nuggets Predictions? With all due respect to the Denver Nuggets, they’ve been a step away from being a step away ever since trading Carmelo Anthony. This group has been defined by depth and lack of stardom since Melo landed with the New York Knicks, and the question is: Has Denver finally taken the step forward it needs to become a second- or even third-tier team in a brutal Western Conference?

Denver Nuggets Strengths:
If Danilo Gallinari can stay healthy, his shooting and scoring are going to be huge assets to this team. In 2015-16, the 6’10” small forward played in just 53 contests, but he averaged an impressive 19.5 points on 36.4 percent three-point shooting, while racking in 5.3 rebounds per game.

Sticking with the frontcourt, Kenneth Faried has earned his nickname, the “Manimal.” He’s an athletic freak who can rebound despite his being undersized, and on the offensive end he has a tendency to create second-chance opportunities — a good tendency as far as his current team is concerned.
This group also has youngster Nikola Jokic. If you’re not familiar with this name — as many casual fans aren’t at this juncture — get ready. He’s ready to hit the scene.
Wilson Chandler is another name that can score and provide athleticism, and Will Barton became a Sixth Man of the Year candidate during the 2015-16 campaign.
As previously mentioned, depth is an asset when it comes to this franchise. Denver has a lot of talent, and it has it at virtually every position.
Denver Nuggets Weaknesses:
Star power. We don’t want to admit that it makes as big of a difference as it does, but the fact is that the NBA is as star-driven a league as we have at this point in time.
LeBron James has been to six straight NBA Finals and the Golden State Warriors — the consensus favorite to win the 2017 championship — is the first team in league history to have four players who were All-NBA players the year prior.
Denver, since it traded Carmelo Anthony, has lacked star power. It has had high scorers, but it’s lacked someone who can truly take over a game and truly take over a franchise.
Looking at a player such as Emmanuel Mudiay, there’s a lot of potential at the point guard position. But his shot hasn’t given much hope to the Denver faithful and Jamal Murray (the team’s first-round draft pick)

Speaking of shooting, this is a category where Denver leaves plenty to be desired. The Nuggets were 25th in the Association last season in terms of three-point percentage, and that’s something that needs to improve in today’s day and age of pace-and-space play across the league.
Denver Nuggets Betting Prediction: 34-48
Vegas has set the over/under for the Nuggets this season at 36.5. This is a tough one to choose one way or the other without knowing the future of this team’s health; however, we’re going slightly under at this point in the process.
If this group can stay healthy, 37-40 wins isn’t out of the question. The problem is that a campaign with that many wins likely isn’t even enough to compete for a playoff spot out West.

With that in mind, we’re looking at a team that will be willing to rest players even if said players are borderline ready to play. Look for Denver to be entertaining as always — just not competitive when it comes to meaningful games late in the 2016-17 NBA season.
