The Cavaliers ended the drought in Cleveland and were welcomed to 1.3 million fans that flooded the streets of downtown Cleveland for the parade.
They’ve seemed to rub off the rest of Cleveland, as the AHL Cleveland Monsters (who share an arena with the Cavaliers) secured a title, and now the Indians are having some success.
Lebron James was excited as anybody to bring a championship to Cleveland, but now can he retain that title?
Cleveland Cavaliers Strengths:
The Cavaliers lost very little this offseason.
Backup PG Matthew Dellavedova got paid for all he did in Cleveland over the past two seasons and went to Milwaukee. They also lost Timofey Mozgov, who shockingly got paid over 50 million even though he was a non entity last season in the Cavaliers championship run.

What the Cavs added in return was even better than what they lost. Cleveland acquired Mike Dunleavy from Chicago and added Chris Anderson to boost their bench. The duo will play some significant minutes this season.
They also kept JR Smith this offseason. It was clear Smith wanted to stay, but he held out a bit as he wanted more money.
What gave away his stance to stay was the fact that he was parading around in Cleveland Indians gear and hanging out with Lebron James and company on a regular basis. Eventually, the deal was worked out and his offensive style and firepower are just what the Cavaliers need.
Cleveland Cavaliers Weaknesses:
Although the loss of Delly is going to significantly hurt this team, his defensive mindset and presence to back up Irving was a huge key over the past few seasons for the Cavaliers.
This season, the Cavaliers will use Kay Felder, who was drafted out of Oakland, to be the backup. Felder won a spot on the team for his dominant performance in the NBA Summer League, as he showed up his versatility and scoring abilities.

However, unproven, Felder will have a lot of pressure on him early. Can the rookie perform at the level the Cavaliers need him to?
Size is also going to be an issue with this Cavaliers team.
Anderson does add some, but other than Thompson, controlling the paint will be tough.
Tristan Thompson has always been a force when it comes to rebounding, especially on the offensive glass. He’ll have a lot more pressure on him this year to perform.
Cleveland Cavaliers Betting Prediction: 59-23
Cleveland should have smooth sailing to the top of the East this year.
They’ll still easily the best team and with the lineup of Lebron James, Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving, and JR Smith, it just doesn’t get much better than that.
Expect them to have little issue here in the regular season, but defending a title is no easy task.
