There’s a Twitter account out there called “This Day In Suck.” It mostly focuses on injuries that help out notable players in years past, but if it wants to live up to its name, it should remember January 21 down the road for an anniversary between two terrible, no-good NBA teams.
Although this game does little for the casual fan not residing in either Chicago or Cleveland, it does have some betting interests. After all, it’s not often that the Bulls are going to be considered favorites.
It’s also not often you can bet on the Cavs as underdogs and have a legitimate chance at coming out ahead.
This game tips off at 1:00 p.m. ET because of the MLK Holiday NBA schedule.
Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls are the not-so-proud owners of the NBA’s longest losing streak. And it’s really not that close.
Over their last 10, the Bulls have lost…you guess it…10 straight. Their last win game 11 games ago at the hands of the John Wall-less Washington Wizards on Dec. 28, making them the only team in the Association to be winless up to this point in the year 2019.
The next-longest losing streak belongs collectively to the New York Knicks and Memphis Grizzlies, who have lost a combined 10 games in a row—five a piece entering games on Monday, Jan. 21.

Against Cleveland, the Bulls just need to control the ball. That’s the main thing a bad team needs to do to begin a competitive contest, and it’s what any team—regardless of record—must do against a bad team.

Don’t mix things up here: The Bulls are bad, but the Cavs are also bad. Cleveland, however, has a nice young piece running the offense in Colin Sexton. Sexton hasn’t been a Rookie of the Year candidate by most measures—and not just because Luka Doncic is the runaway winner more than halfway through the year. But Chicago lacks the defensive chops to force a young guard into uncomfortable situations.
If double-teaming the rookie floor general is what becomes necessary, Chicago shouldn’t hesitate. A loss to the Cavs would be good for lottery chasing, but it would be terrible for locker room morale, which is just as important when you’re building around a piece like Sexton.
Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavs are still without Kevin Love. They’re also without Tristan Thompson, Larry Nance Jr., David Nwaba, and, of course, JR Smith, who has been exiled from the team altogether.

But there’s a piece of good news here.
They’re playing the Bulls.
Against Chicago, the Cavs should be able to at least get out in transition and create easy buckets. Against a contender, that would be a foundational piece to the blueprint, not the whole game plan.
Against the Bulls, Cleveland should look for every easy bucket it can get. It could make the difference when it’s all said and done.

Free Chicago Bulls vs. Cleveland Cavaliers NBA Prediction:
The following advice is not something we recommend you listen to 99.9 percent of the time. Seriously, this is a one-time exception. But in this particular case, we say put your money—and probably not a lot of it—on the dawg simply because the payout is higher and quite frankly you can’t trust either team.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Cavaliers ATS
The Cavs can’t be trusted, but neither can the Bulls—especially since Wendell Carter Jr. is out for 8-12 weeks. He’d been one of the lone bright spots for Chicago this season, and without him, there’s little reason to believe the Bulls are two points better than the Cavaliers, in Cleveland nonetheless.
This game is a bit of a toss-up, but the payout to go Bulls as the “favorites” just isn’t worth it unless you’re putting big-time dollars on the line. And simply put: We would never put big-time dollars on either team to win here.
If you’re willing to take a small chance, Cleveland is the team.
And again, choosing the bigger payout and lesser of two evils is hardly a recipe for success. But in this case, it’s worth throwing a bit of your personal slush fund the Cavs’ way.
