Saturday January 27, the Boston Celtics continue their road trip arriving at Oracle Arena to play the Golden State Warriors. The Celtics arrive having stopped a four game losing streak via a win over the LA Clippers. Meanwhile the Warriors beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in their last game and have lost just twice in their past 13 games, the most recent being to the Houston Rockets at the end of their road trip.
Last season, the squads split the season series and the Celtics won their initial meeting this season at Boston. The Celtics hold the all-time record having bested the Warriors 202 of their 337 matches.
Boston Celtics
It’s been an interesting week for Kyrie Irving with pundits stating he threatened the Cavaliers with season ending surgery unless he was traded. This was followed by being selected to play on team LeBron in the All-Star Game.
The third drama in Irving’s trilogy came via a closed door meeting prior to the Clippers game. Unlike the Cavaliers and Wizards however, Boston’s session paid immediate dividends with a victory in LA.

In the victory Kyrie Irving led the way with 20 points, 7 assists and 8 rebounds. After a few rough outings Jayson Tatum delivered a solid performance with 18 points, 3 assists and 6 rebounds.
As per Bleacher Report writer Grant Hughes the Celtics produced the worst offense in the last calendar month in the Association. Therefore, the fact Boston got five players to produce double digit scoring vs. the Clippers was a massive improvement.

Still, the issue for Boston has tended to be finding a balance between their offense and defense. When the Celtics are at their best offensively their defense slips and vice versa.
Boston will need to navigate figuring out that balance while also dealing with opposite coast games, something they’ve had trouble with recently.
Two key injuries for the Celtics are Al Horford (head) and Marcus Smart (hand laceration) who both sat out against the Clippers and are questionable for this outing.
Horford’s injury in particular is concerning given his earlier missed time due to a concussion.
Golden St. Warriors
Stephen Curry had a busy Thursday between selecting his All-Star team and suiting up to beat the Timberwolves. Curry missed out on Kevin Durant as part of his squad as LeBron James selected him first overall, but did manage to retain his other teammates (Klay Thompson/Draymond Green).
After the loss in Houston which ended a 14-game road win streak the Warriors bounced back for two consecutive home wins (Knicks/Wolves).
Heading into the second meeting with Boston this season there is ample motivation given the earlier loss in Boston. In that outing the Warriors held the Celtics to 32.9 from the field, but still lost the game.

Kevin Durant produced a triple-double vs. Minnesota of 28 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds. The Splash Brothers also had big nights with Curry coming up one assist shy of a double-double and Thompson connecting on seven of his nine shots from deep.
As for injuries, Green is nursing a sore elbow but expected to play while Patrick McCaw (back) missed the Minnesota game is questionable and Jordan Bell (ankle) is definitely out.

Free Boston Celtics vs. Golden St. Warriors NBA Prediction:
It’s almost inconceivable to hold a time under 33 percent and lose like the Warriors did in Boston. Then again, Golden State weren’t humming offensively like they are now. Although there isn’t a spread posted I’ll state in advance regardless of the point spread I’m all in on the Warriors beating the Celtics. Alternatively, the Celtics may have additional inspiration if the Raptors win Friday as a loss would move Toronto atop the East based on win percent.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Line is off
Although the officials were overly helpful in Boston it’s doubtful they offer as friendly a whistle at Oracle. If I’m wrong it could mean another league leading game eviction for Durant who has four already along with 10 techs.
