The Sacramento Kings have looked tired and depleted over the past couple weeks and many are saying that their up-tempo pace is the culprit. Then again, Sacramento’s 2-5 stretch over their last 7 could be due to just being on the road for each of those games.
The Hawks are significant underdogs in Wednesday’s contest at Golden 1 Center mostly because people don’t know what to expect from the Kings. Atlanta is 4 of a 7 game road trip, but they are coming in off a 123-118 upset of the Clippers on Monday as +6 road ‘dogs. Can the Hawks make it two in a row?
Atlanta Hawks
Believe it or not Atlanta is on a little bit of a roll the last two weeks. Granted the Hawks are just 3-3 over that span but they have a 142-126 upset over OKC, a 20 point win in Chicago, and Monday’s 5 point win over the Clippers on their recent resume. Then again there’s also a 19 point home defeat to the Magic mixed in there so hard to know what to expect from the Hawks Wednesday.

One thing Atlanta can do lately is score which was especially noticeable in the 142 point output over OKC. John Collins went off in that game with a 12-14 shooting night and Alex Len dumped in 24 off the bench. When you factor in other talented players such as Trae Young who went for 26 vs. the Clippers Monday, the Hawks should be way better than their record shows.
Another big boost for the Hawks is that Kent Bazemore has been upgraded to questionable vs. the Kings. The shooting guard has missed the last 14 games which has actually allowed Atlanta to develop some depth. The more the merrier vs. the Sacramento up-pace offense.

Wednesday’s O/U is listed at a very high 235 but this game could still see way more scoring than that. Atlanta will put up some points – but they’ll also give them up with the league’s 30th ranked defense in points allowed.
The Hawks have allowed at least 118 in 6 of the last 7 games. Sacramento has been down in scoring lately however. Is that due to the Kings being on the road or are they legitimately fatigued?
Sacramento Kings
As for if that Kings up-tempo play has already sabotaged the remainder of their season – it doesn’t look good. In the recent 7 game road trip Sacramento’s highest scoring output was 108 points Sunday vs. the Clippers. They were also held to under 100 in three of those outings so maybe it’s actually the ‘under’ that is looking like a better play.
The Kings have had two nights off before Wednesday’s game which could be huge for recharging the batteries. De’Aaron Fox has back-to-back 20+ point games and Buddy Hield just went for 26 two games ago against Memphis. Remember, this is the Atlanta defense.

What about the Sacramento defense? Overall the Kings look pretty bad on paper ranking 26th in the league in points allowed / game. 3 of the last 4 opponents have also put up 20+ points. Can Sacramento regain their focus in the first game back at the Golden 1 Center in over two weeks.

Free Atlanta Hawks vs. Sacramento Kings NBA Prediction:
The Hawks don’t play bad against the Western Conference and they’ve got talent inside and out to definitely beat this Kings team. It’s hard to know if Sacramento’s poor run lately was due to just playing on the road, or if they are truly experiencing some rotation issues.
Either way, Atlanta seems to be building some momentum slowly but surely. They’ll get Bazemore back which should provide a boost and there’s no reason the Hawks can’t push towards the outright win.
4* Free NBA Betting Pick: Hawks +8
Sacramento has a solid home stand coming up, but they’re still a bit road weary.
