2018-2019 NBA Previews – 76ers Odds
Looking for 2018 Philadelphia 76ers Predictions? We’ve got your back. Philadelphia finished last season 52-30, finishing third in the NBA’s Eastern Conference. It was better than most expected, but it was also right in line with The Process as far as the wide-open Eastern Conference went. Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid stayed largely healthy; the real problem was that No. 1 overall pick, Markelle Fultz, had bust written all over him all season.

No, we can’t give him that label permanently, and that’s actually something fans in Philly can look forward to this year—significant improvement from its potential star guard.
But what 2018-19 really comes down to is this: Who is going to take the crown out East with LeBron James now a member of the Los Angeles Lakers?
There are really three teams worth considering, and yes, the Sixers are one of those franchises.
Philadelphia 76ers Strengths:
Where to begin with this team…
For starters, Ben Simmons—last season’s Rookie of the Year, whether you bought into the idea that he was a true rookie or not—is the league’s next big thing. Quote us on that. Although, in reality, it’s not exactly a bold statement.
No, the guy can’t shoot a three-pointer (he literally doesn’t want to…like, ever). But he does just about everything else.
This guy can score at the rim, drive, kick, post up. And, oh, by the way, he’s a 6’10” point guard. Not in the way that LeBron James or Kevin Durant play the role of facilitators and are often considered point-forwards.
This kid is actually a point guard in a power forward’s body.
Embiid, on the other hand, is very much a center, but far from the traditional model. He’s the kind of player who can kill you at the rim or beyond the three-point line, and he can do it on both ends of the court.

Beyond the two stars, there is a surprising amount of depth on this roster. JJ Redick is back,, which is crucial for the perimeter spacing in a Simmons-led lineup. Dario Saric has yet to scrape his ceiling. Roert Covington earned himself a fat contract for a reason. And by the way, they fought on veteran glue guy and versatile forward Wilson Chandler to complement the pieces already in place.
This team has just about everything you’d need from a borderline contender.
Philadelphia 76ers Weaknesses:
What it doesn’t have is true winning experience. Redick is the only player on the roster with meaningful playoff minutes under his belt beyond what the incumbents experienced last season. And no, he never made it past the second round with the Lob City LA Clippers.

This Sixers squad—as we already eluded to—also has a huge question mark over the head of Markelle Fultz.
If all goes according to plan, his head will be right and his jump shot will be reformed.
But it’s difficult at this point to plan on him being an important part of the rotation.
In an ideal world, this second point will be a non-issue. But we need to see it play out before us before we buy into the concept.

Philadelphia 76ers Betting Prediction: 51-31
When the Vegas over/under wins projections came out, Philly was pegged at 54.5. That number isn’t unreasonable, but for a team that we’re predicting will land the third spot in the Eastern Conference, we just can’t give them that much credit at this time.
Look for the Sixers to finish behind both the Celtics and the Raptors this season. But when it comes to the postseason, anything can happen—especially if Fultz is up and running and living up to his No. 1 status.
