This past Sunday night at Darlington, Carl Edwards posted his second point-race victory of the season by taking the checkered flag. Brad Keselowski had a solid run in second place and Denny Hamlin finished third for the second week in a row.
The following is a look at my top favorite, contender and longshot to win this Saturday night’s Sprint Cup race at Richmond based on betting odds provided by Top Bet.
The Favorite (odds of less than 10/1)
Heading into the final race before the start of this year’s Chase, I am going to chase some longer betting odds for this week’s top favorite by going with Matt Kenseth at +800 to win on Saturday night.

The No. 20 car has already won three times this season including recent victories at Pocono and Michigan.
Overall, the team is sitting in seventh-place in the current Sprint Cup standings with a total of 776 points as a result of nine Top 5 finishes this year.
Kenseth has not won at Richmond recently, but he has placed seventh or better in five of his last six Sprint Cup runs at this track.
The Contender (odds from 10/1 to 19/1)
I have always like Denny Hamlin at longer odds especially this season with nine Top 5 finishes that includes an early victory at Martinsville.
The fact that the No. 11 car has finished in the Top 3 the past two weeks adds even more value to his +1000 betting odds to break through with a victory this time around.
The team is currently eighth in the standings with 754 total points and in solid shape for this year’s Chase, but adding a victory to the mix would add some serious momentum for another run at a title.

Hamlin’s recent track record at Richmond has not been the best, but he has won here twice since 2009.
The Longshot (odds 20/1 or greater)
Anyone who follows my NASCAR picks on a regular basis already knows that I am a sucker for Dale Earnhardt Jr, when his betting odds go up, so I could not resist a play this week at +2000 odds to win.
The No. 88 car has long since claimed a spot in the Chase with victories at Talladega and Daytona and it is sitting in third place in the standings with 855 points.
The main reason for the long odds this week is an average finishing position at Richmond of 13.5, but he does have three career victories in a Sprint Cup race at this track.
