Matt Kenseth joined Denny Hamlin as the first two Chase winners with a first-place run last Sunday at New Hampshire. Hamlin stayed hot by taking second and Joey Logano improved his position in the Sprint Cup standings by taking third.
The following is a look at my top favorite, contender and longshot to win this Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at Dover based on betting odds provided by Top Bet.
The Favorite (odds of less than 10/1)
Jimmie Johnson (+400) has dominated at Dover the past few seasons with three wins in his last four races here, but I have to go with Kevin Harvick as a +450 second-favorite to win this time around given his current situation in the Sprint Cup standings.

A poor run at Chicago and a miscalculated gamble at New Hampshire have put the defending champion on the brink of elimination without a win this Sunday or a very high finish and some help.
Behind the wheel of the No. 4 car, he has been dominant all season long with 18 Top 5 finishes and after leading last week’s race for 216 laps you know that he is going to right in the mix all day long.

The added incentive was a second-place finish to Johnson in the first run around the Monster Mile this season.
The Contender (odds from 10/1 to 19/1)
I have been really impressed with Carl Edwards’ performance in the first two races of this year’s Chase. He ended-up second to Hamlin at Chicago and he worked the No. 99 car to a solid fifth-place finish last Sunday at New Hampshire.
This team is in excellent shape to advance to the next round sitting in third place in the current Sprint Cup standings, but the only way to guarantee a spot is with a win.
Edwards has been listed at +1000 odds to come through with a victory this Sunday and while his recent form at Dover has not been the best, he did reel off seven Top 5 finishes in 11 trips around this track from 2006 to 2011.
The Longshot (odds 20/1 or greater)
I have been on Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s bandwagon all season long and I am not about to get off now, especially in light of his +2500 betting odds to win this week.
He is another Chase driver that needs a big week to keep his title hopes alive after falling to 12th in the standings through the No. 88 car’s first two races. This team ran really well last week at New Hampshire, but a late-race gamble resulted in a costly 25th-place finish.
The main reason for the longer odds in this race is a less than stellar track record at Dover, but that gets minimized a bit given Dale Jr.’s current motivation to win this race.
