Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies are a team in rebuild mode, trading established stars for a bevy of prospects, bottoming out each year to secure higher draft picks and saving their money for a time when they are ready to succeed.

The result on the field can be both exciting and depressing, the team roared out to a fast star behind some impressive performances from their young talent, only to finish with 71 teams.
But it’s about the process, not the result.
And part of the process is that they can uncover diamonds in the rough by simply sheer force of will.
Jerad Eickhoff has the possibility to be one of those diamonds, a guy that was never considered a top prospect at any point of his evolution, but given a chance on a team that has chances to give.
He responded with a surprisingly good season as a rookie last year for the Phillies, pitching nearly 200 innings and posting an ERA of 3.65.
He won’t strike out a lot of hitters, but had a walk rate in the same company of Chris Sale and Johnny Cueto. He’s boring, but effective, and could see himself through the Phillies’ process in time to get positive results.
Cincinnati Reds
The Reds are in a similar situation, a team that has begun to sell of players from a core that didn’t do enough to win consistently.
They are more behind in the process and as a result have less top prospects than that of the Phillies.
They do have a former relief ace, Brandon Finnegan, of World Series fame for the Kansas City Royals a couple of years back.
Last year was Finnegan’s first year as a starter, a role that he expected to be in all along and there were some growing pains.

He was healthy and started 31 games, but didn’t average even six innings per start while also having an ERA just below 4.
He should be more stretched out for his second season as a starter, and with his talent could have a strong year for the Reds.
He too, like Eickhoff, can be an opportunist on a team with plenty of opportunities.

Free Philadelphia Phillies vs. Cincinnati Reds MLB Prediction:
It’s tough to get a read on two bad, young teams playing each other. Eickhoff seems like the more promising, efficient prospect but Finnegan has had his time in the sun as well.
I’ll take the Phillies and Eickhoff in a battle of lesser known pitchers.
4* Free MLB Betting Pick: UNDER 9
Pitching usually wins and in a game where both lineups struggle to score runs, I expect the the starting pitching to hold up and the Phillies to win a low scoring game.
MLB Free Score Prediction: Philadelphia 3 – Cincinnati 1
