Minnesota Twins
Jose Berrios shook off a rough first inning to hang with Chris Sale for most of Monday evening. Then his manager decided to hang with him a little too long.
Berrios gave up two runs in the first and two more in the seventh in Minnesota’s 4-1 loss on Monday night. He struck out seven and walked two.
Berrios escaped a jam in the sixth after a bit of a wild streak. He pumped his fist when he got Jackie Bradley Jr. to fly out to end the inning, as if he thought his night was over.

But Paul Molitor sent him back out in the seventh with nearly 100 pitches to his name. Berrios let two of the first three batters reach before Molitor went to the bullpen. Matt Belisle promptly let one of those inherited runners score and put the other at third, setting up a sac fly that made it 4-1.
Boston’s bullpen handled things from there.
Hector Santiago will start Tuesday night, his first appearance since the first week of the month. He’s been on the Disabled List with a shoulder problem.
The screwballer has a 5.26 ERA in a dozen starts this season and had lost five straight decisions before he went on the shelf.
Boston Red Sox
Chris Sale didn’t have his best stuff on Monday but he was still pretty darn tough, throwing 6.1 innings and giving up just four hits. He struck out nine Twins and walked two in his 10th win of the season.
Mitch Moreland had two hits, including a home run for the third straight game. He also drove in Boston’s fourth run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
Drew Pomeranz will start for the Sox on Tuesday. He’s pitched into the seventh inning in each of his last two appearances, giving up three runs in the two starts, combined.

Pomeranz’s ERA is just over 4.00 because he struggles to get deep into games – or at least did earlier this season. He’s held the opponent to two runs or fewer in 11 of his 14 starts this season, though.

Free Minnesota Twins vs. Boston Red Sox MLB Prediction: the under comes in again.
Vegas and I differ in our opinions of the two offenses. Whereas I really just liked Berrios and Sale on Monday night, I’m fading the lineups on Tuesday. I don’t see either starter blowing up.
4* Free MLB Betting Pick: Minnesota (+180) & Under 10.5 (-120)
I like the Twins with that big number and I’ll play the under, where I have a total a full two runs lower.
