Blue Jays 2019 Season Preview
Ready to check out our 2019 Toronto Blue Jays predictions? After a disappointing season last year the Blue Jays decided to move on from John Gibbons and the hope is a new coach can get this team back to success in a very tough American League East.
MLB Blue Jays Predictions & Handicapping Insight
Right now the Blue Jays have some of the worst odds to have success in the league this year. To win the American League East they have 30/1 odds which is third in the division only ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays.
To win the World Series the odds aren’t good coming in at 350/1 which is one of the worst in the league. There is a lot of value if they were to win the World Series but is there really enough talent to even make the playoffs in this squad?

Key Additions:
- Charlie Montoyo
- Vladimir Guerrero Jr
The Jays got two key additions this offseason that they hope can lead this team for many years to come. Charlie Montoyo was hired as coach from the Rays and the hope is that he can lead this team back to playoff success.

The addition that the fans are talking about most is Vladimir Guerrero Jr who has been in the minor league system and is expected to be the next big thing in baseball.
The son of Vlad Guerrero this guy is flashy and has a ton of power. The big question surronding him is will the pressure be too much.
Key Losses:
- Josh Donaldson
- John Gibbons
John Gibbons coaches the second most games in Jays history but he has been replaced. Josh Donaldson has also moved on although that happened mid season last year.
This will be the first full year they won’t have him in the locker room and that is going to be really felt, especially with the young guys.
2019 Toronto Blue Jays Predictions: Projected Lineup:
- LF Billy McKinney (L)
- SS Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (R)
- 1B Justin Smoak (S)
- RF Randal Grichuk (R)
- DH Kendrys Morales (S)
- 3B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (R)
- 2B Brandon Drury (R)
- C Russell Martin (R)
- CF Kevin Pillar (R)
The Jays have Vlad and that is a key but this is a very old team and don’t be surprised if the end of season lineup looks a lot different than it does now.
Martin, Pillar, Smoak, and Morales could all be traded if the team doesn’t have success early in the season to keep them in the playoff chase.
2019 Toronto Blue Jays Predictions: Projected Rotation:
- RHP Marcus Stroman
- RHP Aaron Sanchez
- LHP Clayton Richard
- LHP Ryan Borucki
- RHP Matt Shoemaker
Another guy that could be traded this year is Marcus Stroman but he is the ace of this team although that last year he had a ton of struggles.
Matt Shoemaker was also signed this offseason and is looking for a bounce back year after making only seven starts last year.
2019 Toronto Blue Jays Predictions: Projected Closer:
- RHP Ken Giles
Ken Giles was traded midseason last year from the Astros and he will be the guy at the end of the Bullpen again this year.

Last year he finished with 12 saves with the Astros and 14 Saves with the Jays. There is questions about how many chances he will get but when the opportunity is there, he will try and close it down.
2019 Toronto Blue Jays Predictions:
Getting Vlad up to the majors is exciting and will be the talking point most of the season but that will be the only good thing for the team this year.

I think this team will finish with over 100 losses and the second of the half with be a drag after many of the players are traded.
