MLB Cubs Predictions & Handicapping Insight
The Mets will have another opportunity with this, all of a sudden, group of core players that are getting older. deGrom is in his thirty’s now, Zack Wheeler and Steven Matz have yet to live up to their promise. And most of the batters in the Mets lineup are soon to be hitting retirement like Robinson Cano and Todd Frazier.

Key Additions:
- Edwin Diaz
- Robinson Cano

- Keon Broxton
- Jed Lowrie
The New York Mets made some noise and some strides in improving their team in 2019. By acquiring Edwin Diaz the New York Mets boast one of the best pitching staffs in all of baseball.

Key Losses:
- Jay Bruce
- Austin Jackson
- David Wright
If this is 2010, the New York Mets will have lost a lot of production, but it’s 2019 and times have changed. The Mets basically improved their team by removing these players. All in all, with their additions and subtractions, the Mets most definitely improved their team.
2019 New York Mets Predictions: Projected Lineup:
- LF Brandon Nimmo
- 3B Jed Lowrie
- 2B Robinson Cano
- RF Michael Conforto
- C Wilson Ramos
- 1B Todd Frazier
- CF Keon Broxton
- SS Amed Rosario
This is a pretty uninspired lineup. They have some exciting pieces in Brandon Nimmo and Michael Conforto that have the potential to be impact players. Wilson Ramos is an exciting power hitter at the catcher spot, but other than that you’re just hoping for the best.
2019 New York Mets Predictions: Projected Rotation:
- Jacob deGrom
- Noah Syndergaard
- Zack Wheeler
- Steven Matz
- Jason Vargas
Jacob deGrom was the best pitcher in the league last year. While he will obviously regress this year, he should be in the Cy Young conversation once again this year.
Noah Syndergaard, when healthy, is one of the best pitchers in all of baseball. Unfortunately, health has been hard to come by and Thor has struggled to stay on the mound on a regular basis. If Thor can make 30 starts the Mets will boast one of the better one-two punches in baseball.
After the top two, things get shaky. Zack Wheeler and Steven Matz were once well regarded prospects, but they just haven’t panned out. They won’t be front line starters, but maybe they can turn around and be serviceable starters in a way that Jason Vargas is.
2019 New York Mets Predictions: Projected Closer:
- Edwin Diaz
- Jeurys Familia
The Mets have a great back end as they can turn to either Familia or Diaz in the ninth. More than likely, Familia will be the set up man and Diaz will be brought in to close it out.
Either way, the last six outs of the game should be relatively stress free compared to the rest of the league.

2019 New York Mets Predictions:
The New York Mets have a pretty solid team overall. This is a team that could have a shot at making the playoffs in some sort of capacity. However, the division they play in is extremely tough.
The Philadelphia Phillies, Washington Nationals, and the NL East champion Atlanta Braves are all top tier teams. The New York Mets are close, but maybe a tick behind those teams, but this is a team that can have a winning record and should reside around the .500.
It’s not something that Mets fans want, but winning 76-84 wins might land the Mets in third or fourth place in the division.
