Free World Series MLB Pick: Sleepers
Looking for World Series futures odds and 2016 MLB sleeper predictions? 2016 is going to be a very interesting year in baseball as we could see a number of changes in who makes the playoffs this year.
The way I see it, four or even five of the division champions from last year won’t repeat this year.

In the AL, I don’t see the Toronto Blue Jays or Texas Rangers repeating. Both teams are in competitive divisions and both teams have a number of problems that will keep them from repeating.
In the NL, I don’t see the New York Mets winning the East again and I definitely don’t see the St. Louis Cardinals winning the NL Central.

The Kansas City Royals repeating in the AL Central seems safe enough, but there are a couple of teams that will challenge them. The Dodgers are on shaky ground in the NL West and they are no guarantee to repeat again either.
So, this year is going to be a lot of fun as there is a lot of parity in baseball. With that said, I see a lot of value in who may win the World Series in 2016 so let’s get into it.
World Series Futures Odds: Cleveland Indians – 35/1
We get things started by talking about one of the best rotations in baseball. Specifically, one of the best fantasy rotations in baseball, if not the best.
Corey Kluber, Danny Salazar, and Carlos Carrasco have absolutely nasty stuff and they will pile up the strikeouts. Fantasy wise or real life wise this is a strong rotation that can carry the Cleveland Indians to a World Series.
The big question mark is will the Indians generate enough offense? Will they score enough to win enough games and make it to the dance? That is the $64,000 dollar question.
Jason Kipnis, Carlos Santana, Yan Gomes, and Mike Napoli will need to carry this team while Michael Brantley starts the season on the DL. And when Brantley does come back, the Indians will have to hope he shows glimpses of his MVP candidate form for a couple of years back.
All in all, the Indians might not have enough to challenge the Royals for the division, but all they have to do is win a wild card spot. And if they do, they have the rotation to go all the way.
World Series Futures Odds – Seattle Mariners – 45/1
I’m not necessarily extremely high on the Seattle Mariners, but given how weak the AL West is, I think the Mariners have as good of a shot as any of them to win the division.

The Mariners have a nice structured lineup with Nori Aoki leading off followed by Kyle Seager, Robinson Cano, Nelson Cruz, and Adam Lind. That’s a pretty quality starting five right there. After that it gets shaky, but this is a quality lineup, on paper.
The rotation is very good as I expect Felix Hernandez to have a bit of a bounce back season. Hisashi Iwakuma is a quality veteran and will have another good season. And then, the interesting part comes from Taijuan Walker and James Paxton.
These two will be the key into whether or not Seattle will make it to the dance.
Walker and Paxton are high upside pitchers that haven’t put it all together yet. If they do, this is a great rotation and this is a team that can make a run in the playoffs.
World Series Futures Odds – Baltimore Orioles – 50/1
What I said about the Seattle Mariners could be applied to the Baltimore Orioles as well, to an extent.
The Baltimore Orioles possess a very strong lineup. You could argue that it is one of the strongest lineups in all of baseball. Manny Machado is going to have an MVP type season, I believe.
Adam Jones will have a typical Adam Jones type year hitting .290 and hitting 25 home runs. Chris Davis and Mark Trumbo will bring the power and both of them could very well hit 40 home runs this season.
Matt Wieters will be a force again so long as he stays healthy and with Jonathan Schoop playing everyday, he has the potential to knock 25 home runs, as well.
This is a powerful lineup. The problem is their rotation which will ultimately be their issue throughout the season. When Yovani Gallardo and Ubaldo Jimenez are your top two pitchers in your rotation, eh, you have a problem.
However, their lineup should be good enough to offset some of their bad pitching, do I love them to win and go all the way? No, but I do like the fact that they have just as good of a chance to win the division as the other favorites in their division who don’t have the best pitching staff in baseball either.
World Series Futures Odds – Florida Marlins – 120/1
The Florida Marlins aren’t a bad team at all, so for them to be 120/1 shots at winning the World Series is ludicrous. This is a team that is solid all the way around.
The Marlins have a solid lineup with Dee Gordon setting the table and Giancarlo Stanton cleaning up. Their rotation is solid with Jose Fernandez and Wei-Yin Chen as strong 1-2 punch, and they have a decent bullpen.
This is just a solid team all-around. This isn’t a bad team at all, this isn’t one of the bottom five teams in baseball which is basically what the odds are implying. The division is winnable enough as I said at the top, I don’t see the New York Mets repeating as champs in the NL East.

I love the Mets pitching and rotation, but they have high expectations to deal with and a target on their back. The Washington Nationals have a lot of talent, but will they put it together or will they fall flat on their face again?
The Philadelphia Phillies and Atlanta Braves you don’t have to worry about, they are finishing at the bottom. That leaves the Marlins. At 120/1 there is a lot of value.
2016 World Series Futures Odds – San Diego Padres – 120/1
I previewed the San Diego Padres and I project them to be a quality ball club this year. I believe they have enough talent to be a winning ball club. Plus, the NL West isn’t that strong.
The Los Angeles Dodgers don’t have enough elite juice in the middle of their order and while the San Francisco Giants have a lot of name recognition in their rotation, I’m not ready to anoint them quite yet.
That leaves the door open for a team like the San Diego Padres. Everyone is jumping on the Arizona Diamondbacks, and rightfully so. I don’t disagree with that, but I like the Padres more due to their massive value.
This is a club that is built for the playoffs and if they somehow won the division or earned a wild card spot they would be a very dangerous team. Tyson Ross, James Shields, and Andrew Cashner are three top of the line pitchers that can lead you to the promise land.
