Both of these teams are having disappointing seasons. The worst may have passed for Wazzu though.
Less so for Cal which has been just awful offensively. Injuries haven’t helped either.

This is going to be a classic offense vs. defense game. The defense might be good enough but without some points, it might not matter.
Washington State Cougars
The Cougars are the top passing team in college football. No surprise there…but how will that work against Cal.
The defense is not as good as in year’s past but they will be aided by taking on a terrible Cal offense. That means there will be no reason to adjust the game plan.
Anthony Gordon and the passing attack will eventually find something that works, Mike Leach always does. It might take a little longer than against other teams but I feel confident about that.
Wazzu has had two weeks to recover from their close loss at Oregon. They have played the Ducks as tough as anyone this season though so it is not a total loss. They should be fired up.

These programs are familiar with each other and know what the other does well. I think that still creates advantages for the Cougars though.
California Bears
The Bears have now lost 4 in a row after that 4-0 start. The reasons are obvious. As their quarterback position got decimated they did not have enough offense to compete. I am not sure that changes this week.
Two weeks ago they got shutout by Utah. The Utes are a very good defensive team but they have not scored even 20 points in a game in more than a month. That wears on a team.
They also gave up a season-high 35 points to the Utes. It looks like the defense is just wearing down. They are on the field more than they were when the team was playing its best ball early in the season.
Cal needs a couple of more wins to get bowl eligible. If that is going to happen I think this is one of the games they need to get. They have another home game next week against USC then finish with two on the road.

Free Week 11 NCAA Football Pick
That hook is always a factor but I think the Wazzu offense rules the days. They can win each half by a TD.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Washington State -7.5
Winning on the road by more than a TD is never easy but the offense for Cal is just dead these days. It will create too many opportunities for the Cougars.
Leach vs. Cal coach Justin Wilcox is a nice chess battle but Leach is still a master. That will show in this one.
