This ACC matchup features the 16th ranked Hokies traveling to face Boston College.
Virginia Tech comes in after a primetime loss to Clemson, while BC easily handled CMU.
Virginia Tech Hokies
The Hokies offense was clicking all season long, even putting up a 60 point effort over East Carolina, but they ran into a buzzsaw of a defense when facing Clemson last week.

Josh Jackson’s numbers were padded by having to throw the ball seemingly every play, and he finished the game 29-44 for 251 yards with a score and two interceptions.
Jackson wasn’t able to do much on the ground either as he ran the ball 9 times for only 13 times.
He should have an easier matchup against the Eagles defense so expect him to get 4 total touchdowns on the day.
The O-line struggled to run the ball against the Clemson defensive line, arguably the best in the country. However they did only give up 1 sack, which should be viewed as a win in the eyes of Va. Tech faithful.
Although they abandoned the run early they still averaged 4.8 yards per carry against Clemson. Sticking to the ground game should be much easier against BC and I expect at least 85 yards from their leading rusher.

The Va Tech defense did a pretty good job bottling up the Clemson offense, alow just 24 of the 31 points to Kelly Bryant and Co. Facing a largely inferior offensive opponent should do wonder for Bud Foster’s crew, and a 3 turnover performance could be in store.
Boston College Eagles
The Eagles offense has been very underrated as a ground threat, but they ran all over the Chippewas defense last week.
Led by AJ Dillon, the Eagles were able to run for over 200 yards on the ground against CMU. Dillon finished the game with 25 carries for 120 yards and a score while his backup Jon Hillman ran it 23 times for 89 yards and 2 scores of his own.
If the Eagles can attack the Va Tech defensive line the way Clemson was able to, the we could have an upset on our hands.
Throwing the ball has been BC’s main Achilles Heel, as Anthony Brown threw for just 85 yards on 14 completions and had a paltry 4.1 yards per attempt average.
If the Eagles can’t connect on the deep passes it could be a long day for the offense.

Facing CMU isn’t a major test for the Eagles defense, but they still did a good job by forcing 3 interceptions and getting 3 sacks. Another big performance will be tough to match, but they may be up for the challenge.
