UTSA Roadrunners
The University of Texas at San Antonio snapped a two-game losing streak with a 20–7 win over the Rice Owls last week. UTSA had lost the previous two games by a combined five points after winning its first three.
The Roadrunners now sit at 4–2 and 1–2 in the Conference USA with an outside shot at competing for the West Division if they can finish strong. Luckily, the winless UTEP Miners are on the schedule this season.

The Roadrunners got a defensive touchdown in their wire-to-wire win against Rice last week. Dalton Sturm wasn’t his best but he continued to take care of the ball and did what he had to do to get the win.

Sturm is completing two-thirds of his passes this season as a senior, a vast improvement over the last two season as a starter. He’s up to a dozen touchdown passes after one last week and still just has the one pick. His 165.2 QBR is nearly 30 full points more than what it was last season.
The Roadrunners have speed in the backfield with three guys who have ripped off at least a 67-yard run so far this season. They average 5.5 yards per carry have found pay dirt eight times combined between four backs.
UTEP Miners
The University of Texas at El Paso has not won a game this season, 0–7, and was shut out last week at the University of Southern Mississippi.
Mike Price continues to fill the Head Coach spot as the interim after Sean Kugler resigned earlier this month in the middle of his fifth season. UTEP gave a valiant effort in Price’s first game two weeks ago but came back down after the initial jolt of a new face in the locker room with last week’s stinker.

Zach Greenlee and Ryan Metz split quarterbacking duties last weekend and were both poor in the loss. Greenlee leads the team with 410 yards passing with Metz right behind him, despite 21 more pass attempts. Together, they have thrown four touchdowns and five interceptions.
The running game isn’t much of a threat either. All the backs combine to average just 3.1 yards per carry. The lead back, Quadraiz Wadley has carried 54 times for an average of 5.0 yards per but has just one touchdown and a long run of 19 yards.
No one has broke so much as a 30-yarder so far for the Miners this year.
The offense just doesn’t have a whole lot of big play ability, which it will need against the Roadrunners.
