The Texas Longhorns lost a tough one to the West Virginia Mountaineers, but they showed just how close they are in turning the corner and making that next step forward.

The Kansas Jayhawks had an opportunity to grab a win over another horrible program against the Iowa State Cyclones in the unofficial toilet bowl game in the Big 12 and it was a close contested contest, but the Cyclones were able to steal a win on the road.
Texas Longhorns
After losing to the Kansas State Wildcats, the Texas Longhorns rebounded with two big wins against the Baylor Bears and the Texas Tech Red Raiders on the road.
The Longhorns couldn’t make it three in a row, but they played one of the better teams in college football in the West Virginia Mountaineers and played them close.

The Longhorns are showing signs that they are getting closer and closer to being a top 25 team once again.
D’Onta Foreman had been one of the best kept secrets in college football, but not anymore. Foreman should be in New York in mid-December and he’ll get paid if he chooses to turn pro after this year.
Foreman will have another field day even in the limited snaps he should play this week against the Jayhawks. Defensively, the key has been the Longhorns aren’t giving up huge plays time and time again.
West Virginia had to earn their points by going down the length of the field using a lot of plays.
The Longhorns didn’t give them any free points. And that has been something the Longhorns have done a better job of doing since around the second quarter of the Baylor game.
Defensively, Texas hasn’t been great or even good, they’ve been okay and that has been enough to limit enough points and win a couple of games.
Kansas Jayhawks
The Kansas Jayhawks aren’t a good team. They aren’t close to being a good team, they are a terrible team; one of the worst in college football, if not the worst.
[dfads params=’groups=219&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
Without counting their win over FCS opponent Rhode Island, Kansas has given up at least 31 points in eight of their nine games. In six of their games they’ve given up at least 43 points.
Kansas hasn’t fared better offensively either. The most points they’ve scored this season is 24 – again, not including the FCS win against Rhode Island.
Also, those 24 points came last week against lowly Iowa State.
Going down the list of points they’ve scored this season, they scored 21 points against Ohio; 19 against defensively challenged Texas Tech; 23 against TCU, 20 against Oklahoma State, and 21 two weeks ago against West Virginia.
Those are the most points they’ve scored this season.
This is a bad team and even if they somehow find a way to make it to the end zone three times against the Longhorns, the Longhorns are going to put up close to 50 points.

Free Week 12 NCAA Football Prediction
Aside from the set back last week, this is a program that is headed in the right direction and Charlie Strong should be given the opportunity to lead this team next year.
If he has another mediocre season, then perhaps it is time to let him go, but the talent is coming together and Strong should have the opportunity to see it through.
But, that’s looking ahead into the future.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Texas -23.5
As it is for this game the Longhorns are only basically three touchdown favorites and I see Texas covering the spread in this one. Kansas is terrible and Texas is trending in the right direction.
