The Horned Frogs have been disappointing this season. They haven’t lost but they hardly look like a guarantee to make the playoffs.
It is the same ol’ down in Lubbock where they are flinging the ball around and having success, against lower quality competition (sorry Arkansas).

TCU has a lot to prove and it starts right now.
TCU
The sky is not falling at TCU but they need to start showing more if they want to make the playoffs this year, especially if they do stumble once over the course of the season.
Last week they did not have too much trouble dispatching SMU but they gave up too many yards and points. They just let them stay in the game a little too much and Texas Tech is similar but with better talent.

QB Trevone Boykin has been getting better with each game and that is a trajectory they need to maintain. He should have another big day on Saturday.
It looks like the key to the season is going to be how their defense progresses over the course of the year. Thus far they are looking very un-TCU-like, even though they might be good enough to back a dynamic offense.
Last year the score in this one was 82-27. That is not a type, you have to think Texas Tech will be looking to get back at TCU this year…if they can.
Texas Tech
Texas Tech got a nice win over Arkansas last week. the Razorbacks are scuffling right now but they won on the road as 9.5 point underdogs so you have to give them some credit.
Per the intro they are flinging the ball around to generate the success they are having this season. They are second in the nation in passing offense.
They are also still having their characteristic struggles on defense. They are terrible against the run and that is an area that TCU is certain to exploit.

If they want to return the favour and beat TCU this season they are going to have to make some plays on defense and they haven’t proved they can. I know it was a few weeks ago but they gave up 45 points to FCS Sam Houston State.
The spread probably does not reflect the actual difference between these two teams.

Free Week 4 NCAA Football Prediction
This is an awesome value for TCU this week. If you are betting against them you are basically saying they are a second tier team. I am not ready to do that.

Don’t wait around on this line. I am confident it will pass through to the other side of seven points as kickoff approaches.
