A combination of Jayhawk quarterback failed to navigate a porous Texas Tech defense last week as Kansas failed to capitalize on Red Raider quarterback Patrick Mahomes injuring his shoulder.

TCU lost at home to a reborn Oklahoma squad and now has themselves behind the 8-ball for the Big 12 title with road games at Baylor, West Virginia, and Texas still on the schedule.
TCU Horned Frogs
Kenny Hill – the Texas A&M transfer – dueled with Baker Mayfield last week but a 25 point fourth quarter deficit proved to be too difficult to overcome.
The usually solid TCU defense had no answer for Oklahoma’s offense and was reamed by Gary Patterson in the media this week. Patterson’s teams have prided themselves on defense and allowing 52 points certainly won’t sit well with him.

In turn, the Horned Frog defense will be called upon to respond to Patterson’s criticism and prove they can do their part in bringing TCU toward a Big 12 title.
TCU has had no issue scoring points this season – averaging 43.4 per game over the first 5 games of this season.
Their opponent – Kansas – has struggled to defend of late – giving up 45 points per game over the last three games.
The concern however is that TCU has overlooked Kansas over the last few seasons. Not enough to lose to them but TCU has won the last three meetings by a total of 20 points.
That hasn’t been on par with the performance gap between the two teams as TCU has totaled 26 wins since the start of 2014 while Kansas has totaled just 4.
Kansas playing TCU close recently is alarming for betting TCU but the defense is likely to awaken after Patterson’s chatter about them.
Also, factor in that Kansas’s offense is very, very bad. TCU is shoe-in to win the game but the game could be closer than people expect.
Kansas Jayhawks
Kansas surpassed their win total from 2015 in the first game of the 2016 season. However, their victory was over FCS Rhode Island who didn’t pose much of a threat.
In 2008, the Jayhawks at one point were ranked the number 1 team in the country. They finished the season 8-5 but since then have won a total of 4 conference games. 4 conference wins in 7-plus seasons!
It won’t be any easier again this season as the Big 12 looks as loaded as ever. Kansas lost all 9 of its conference games last season by an average of 36 points per game.
However, their closest game was at TCU which they only dropped 23-17.
Yet, it doesn’t look as positive going into this game. Their next closest loss last season was to Texas Tech by only 10 points.
Last week, the Jayhawks lost by 36 to Texas Tech who lost their starting quarterback in the third quarter.

And, in last season’s 6 point lost to TCU, the Horned Frogs lost QB Trevone Boykin early in the game and had very poor quarterback play in his absence.
Kansas used both Ryan Willis and Montrell Cozart last week but both struggled against a bad Texas Tech defense.
The defense held up well for a half against Texas Tech but fell apart in the second half. The defense though is their strength and could slow down TCU enough to make the game respectable.
NCAA Football Handicapping Trends
- Under is 17-11 in Kansas’s last 28 conference games.

Free Week 6 NCAA Football Prediction
I expect the TCU defense to be determined to prove their value after getting embarrassed by Oklahoma and Kansas shouldn’t make that too difficult to do. The potential for Kansas to slow down TCU a little bit is there but isn’t very likely.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Game Total Under 63.5
Kansas tried to play fast-paced with Texas Tech last week and that didn’t work. I imagine they will at least attempt to slow the game down a bit and their defense is capable of getting enough stops to keep this game under.
BONUS Pick: First Half Under 31
Week 6 Free Score Prediction: TCU 37 – Kansas 10
