I just used the words “Bama” and “roll” in the same sentence. I’m really questioning myself right now. Let’s see where this goes.
Southern Miss Golden Eagles
The Southern Miss Golden Eagles are now 2-1 after a 47-42 win over the Trojans at Troy last week. The Eagles went into the locker room up 17-14 at the break and managed to hold on for the win. Southern Miss had 26 first downs in the game, moving the chains 11 of 17 times on third-down and converting a fourth-down opportunity.
They picked up an impressive 626 total yards on offense. The Golden Eagles connected on 29 of 37 attempts for 514 passing yards and ran the ball as a squad for a buck 12, averaging 2.8 yards per carry.
On the defensive side of the ball, Southern Miss gave up 528 total yards with 504 of them coming through the air. They were tough against the run, holding the Trojans to just 24 rushing yards in the contest.
Quarterback Jack Abraham was solid, completing 28 of 36 attempts for 463 yards and two touchdowns. He ran the ball seven times himself, picking up 26 yards and another score. Quez Watkins was the leading receiver with 209 yards and two touchdowns on just seven receptions. Jaylond Adams hauled in 11 catches for 180 yards of his own.

Defensive back D.Q. Thomas was a stud in the game with nine tackles and a sack. Kyel Hemby was right behind him with eight tackles.
Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama started conference play last week with a 47-23 win over the Gamecocks in South Carolina. They had 25 first downs in the game, going six of 12 on third-down and two for two on fourth.
Bama had 571 yards of total offense with 459 of them through the air. They struggled to move the ball on the ground with just 76 rushing yards, averaging three yards per carry. We’ll see just how much that changes this week against a much smaller program. Nonetheless, it’s something to remember when SEC play gets underway every week.
The Alabama defense gave up 459 total yards to South Carolina. The Gamecocks completed 36 of 57 passing attempts for 324 yards. They averaged over four yards per carry with 135 rushing yards.
Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa completed 28 of 36 passes for 444 yards and five touchdowns. The kid did some damage. Najee Harris ran the ball seven times for 36 yards. Devonta Smith had eight receptions for 136 yards and two touchdowns. Henry Ruggs III had six catches for 122 and a score of his own.
Xavier McKinney impressed on the defensive side of the ball with nine tackles and an interception while Josh Jobe, Shane Lee, and Patrick Surtain II each had eight tackles.

Free Week 4 NCAA Football Pick
Yes, Alabama is going to win this game. That being said, I don’t see them covering the 39.5 points.
They haven’t been themselves running the ball as of late. I’m not sure of Nick Saban is getting old or what, but he hasn’t seemed as concerned with running the score up against these smaller schools.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Bama by 34
Alabama is going to struggle this year in the SEC West. LSU, Auburn, and Texas A&M will give them a hand full. Because of this, I see the second and third stringers coming in as soon as they get a comfortable lead in this one.
