The Florida State Seminoles have entered the post Jameis Winston era and looking good so far, with a win over Texas State 59 – 16. Granted it was Texas State, but the Seminoles looked solid in all aspects of the game, putting in a complete performance in that mismatch of a game.
This game should be another big mismatch, with Florida State being 8th ranked team in the nation and the huge favorite to dominate the game from the start. The Seminoles are looking to improve defensively from last year, as they we’re blown out by Oregon 59 – 20 in the national playoffs semi-final.

The South Florida Bulls had a very solid game in their season opener at home against Florida A&M, in which they won 51 – 3. While the Bulls may have blown out a much weaker team, the Bulls have a much better chance of looking like Florida A&M did last week against this revamped Seminoles squad.
The Bulls won’t be able to function against FSU the same way they did against Florida A&M. The Seminoles will look to limit the Bulls offense, which scored 7 touch downs last week, 4 rushing and 3 receiving.
The last time these two schools met, Florida State won 30 – 17 in 2012.
South Florida
USF completely destroyed a much weaker Florida A&M team last week and will face a much stiffer test this week against the Seminoles on the road, they would REALLY need to dig deep and find a way to win this match.
The Bulls showed fantastic offensive and defensive skills, even if it was against Florida A&M, the completely shut them down defensively and lit them up offensively, scoring 7 touchdowns. They clearly posses the skills needed to have a decent season, but will they be able to put the pieces together against the big dogs of the ACC is the question.
Quarterbacks Quinton Flowers and Steven Bench went a combined 20 -26 for 281 yards, 76% completion, 3 passing TDs, 1 INT, and 2 rushing TDs. Those are very solid numbers but misleading, those stats will no doubt drop against the Seminoles, who are putting a lot of focus on the defensive side of the ball this year.
South Florida scored 4 rushing touchdowns from 4 different rushers, the one that led the way was Marlon Mack who had 23 carries for 131 yards and a TD. The other rushers with TDs were Darius Tice, QBs Steven Bench and Quinton Flowers. The quarterbacks had a total of 11 rushes for 83 yards, showing how their can move the ball both ways.

The Bulls have the skeleton of a good team, but they need to show their meat by contending with the big name schools sooner rather than later, this is a great opportunity for them to do so, even if they are massive underdogs.
Florida State
FSU were left with a bitter taste in their mouths at the end of last season when they lost by 39 points to Oregon in the playoffs. They have been a power school the past couple years and that shouldn’t stop this year.
Senior quarterback Everett Golson will be the one taking over for Winston, who was drafted #1. Golson looked very solid in his first start of the season with a stat line of 19 – 25 for 302 yards, 76% completion, four touch downs and zero interceptions.
On the rushing side of the offense the Seminoles are led by Dalvin Cook and Mario Pender. Cook had 19 carries for 156 yards and 2 touchdowns, Pender ran for 92 yards and a TD on 14 carries.
As a whole the team completely ousted Texas State, compiling 636 total yards. But their defense is more of a work in progress, they allowed an average of 24 points per game last season but held Texas State to only 16 points, however they allowed 300 yards to a sub-par Texas State team.

Week 2 NCAA Football Prediction
I expect the defense of the Bulls to give Florida State a couple fits, with the Bulls offense trying to run down the clock and hang onto the ball as much as possible, trying to keep it a low scoring game, which is the only way the Bulls can even hope to come out of this game with anything positive. +28 might be just a little to much.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: South Florida +28
South Florida has a solid defensive unit that only allowed about 150 yards total last game, they should be able to cause enough trouble to the Seminoles that the keep the game pretty close along with the offense trying to slow the pace of the game down so Florida State doesn’t get a chance to run up the score. I’m rolling with a Seminole victory but a South Florida cover. Florida State is 11 – 1 against in state competition under head coach Fisher, I expect the Seminoles to be dominant and win the game relatively easily.
Week 2 Score Prediction: South Florida 20 – Florida State 44
