South Florida enters the weekend 4 – 0, although they’ve won the last two outings needing to mount a comeback. The Bulls got past Illinois in week 3, winning 25 – 19 while scoring the winning touchdown with just over 2 minutes remaining in the game.
Last weekend, the Bulls needed another 4th quarter score to hang on to their perfect record.

You could say that UMass has some defensive inefficiencies, but that would be an understatement. Out of the five games that UMass has played, the total has come in over for four of the five contests.
There are 130 FBS teams in Division 1 NCAA football, and UMass is ranked 124th, or worse, in 3 defensive categories.
South Florida Bulls
Junior QB Blake Barnett is hoping he finally secured a starter’s role with the Bulls. First brought in to the Alabama program in 2015, he spent last year at Arizona State. The 6′ 5″ Corona California product transferred to South Florida this year after barely seeing the field with the Sun Devils last season.
For his size, Barnett is not afraid to get on the move with his feet, as evident by the 4 rushing TDs in his stat sheet.
Bulls RB Jordan Cronkrite has returned from missing 2017, which is good because 4 RB’s are on the South Florida injury report. Cronkrite carried the ball 15 times for 129 yards and a score in the Bulls 20 – 13 win this past weekend over East Carolina.
South Florida were -19.5 favorites over East Carolina last weekend, and barely escaped with the win. East Carolina outgained the Bulls 412 to 296, but were only able to find the end zone once in the first quarter.

UMass Minutemen
One of UMass QBs will be sitting out this weekend, as it appears that Ross Comis has an undisclosed injury. Not that it matters all that much because UMass will play 3 quarterbacks in any given game. Michael Curtis and Andrew Ford will have to start ramping up the offensive numbers, hoping to nullify their invisible defense.
The man to watch when the Minutemen are on offense, is undoubtedly Andy Isabella. I know this because if you have watched any UMass games this year, you’ve seen #5 doing everything. You need a big catch? Oh, you want to run the ball? Hey, anyone need a kick returner too?
He does it all, but he needs a little help.
Isabella, a Mayfield Ohio native in his senior season, could possibly leave the program with over 3,000 receiving yards.

South Florida enter the game as 14 point favorites, with a 70 attached to the total. The tricky part about a total that high, is that you need both teams to produce to hit it, essentially.
In this case, however, the UMass defense is atrocious and defensive coordinator Ed Pinkham needs find a new approach.

Free Week 6 NCAA Football Pick
The total to over the 70 is the suggested play here, because South Florida simply can’t pull away from anyone. South Florida barely got past ELON to start the year, and their games just keep getting closer.
This might not be an upset situation, but UMass should be able to hang with South Florida at home.
UMass will have to do it by scoring, because South Florida will have no mercy on the Minutemen defense.
