The Gamecocks came from behind to secure win number 1 last week, while the Bulldogs were embarrassed by South Alabama at home.
South Carolina Gamecocks
It wasn’t pretty by any means, but the Gamecocks proved they are going to fight this year after their Week 1 win.
The Gamecocks trailed 10-0 throughout a majority of the game to Vanderbilt, before running off the final 13 points which included a field goal with under a minute to play.
The win matched the win total in SEC play from last season for South Carolina.

South Carolina used their rush defense to keep their offense in the game. The Gamecocks held Vanderbilt to 169 rush yards, which is a massive improvement from last season when they conceded 217.4
They’ll use both QBs once again here as Perry Orth and Brandon McIlwain will get action.
Mississippi State Bulldogs
Yikes. The Bulldogs season could not have gotten off to a worse start last week.
Listed as 27.5 point favorites, Mississippi State was embarrassed by South Alabama in a 21-20 loss.
The loss made it very evident that the Bulldogs simply do not have any weapons post the Dak Prescott era. Quarterback Damian Williams played a mediocre game, as he couldn’t get this Bulldogs offense into any sort of rhythm.

He did show off his dual threat ability, rushing for 93 yards while passing for 143. He’ll get a majority of the snaps in this one, hoping to get the Bulldogs some more balance, especially early on.
RB Brandon Holloway will have to get himself going as well. Holloway struggled all game, managing just 48 yards. He’ll get a lot of touches in this one, but will have a much tougher defensive task.
