Rice is playing out the string but it does not appear they have given up with wins in their last two games.
Neither of their opponents were anywhere close to the calibre of Standford so that run is likely to come to an end this week with a beatdown by the Cardinal.

It looks like the Cardinal will finish the season 9-3, not bad for a season in which it felt like the sky was falling. The defense has been sharp all season long but the offense never really came together.
They have scored 97 points in their last two games, against terrible defenses though.
Rice Owls
Kudos to the Owls for not giving up on the season, something that would have been easy to do after losing the first six games. In their recent win over UTEP they lost their starting QB Tyler Stehling but freshman Jackson Tyner stepped in and was solid.
He has seen little game action but don’t get worried about his safety back there against Stanford. Dude is 6’5″, 240, so even if the Cardinal defense is all over him he can take a hit (and probably will).
The running game is nothing special so it may be on the frosh to keep them in the game.

The defense is nothing special which is why the team has struggled. In looking at a comp the Owls lost 38-10 to Baylor, the only other Power 5 team on their schedule.
Baylor ran for close to 300 yards but they are a totally different style of offense compared to Stanford, which is much more physical.
They are likely to get pushed around a lot on Saturday and this one could get ugly late.
Stanford Cardinal
Weird game to close the regular season for Stanford. Still they have won four in a row, all by double digits, with three covers. Last week they beat rival Cal on the road so there could be a letdown but I wouldn’t expect too much because of the gap between these two teams.
QB Keller Chryst is still not lighting the world on fire but he has not thrown an interception since his first start and if he stays “clean” directing another victory should be no problem.
Christian McCaffery is coming off his best game of the year with 284 yards on the ground against Cal.

The Stanford defense should not have too much of a problem with Rice. This offense is not all that dynamic and with a frosh at the controls they are likely to be able to force some mistakes.
Still the defense is going to have to be stout all game long with that huge spread. Stanford is just 2-3 ATS at home this season.
They have been much better on the road (5-1 ATS).

Free Week 13 NCAA Football Prediction
This is a huge number for a team that is not generally dynamic offensively. Still the offense has been coming along for the past month and they should be able to get what they want while still putting forth a strong defensive effort.
I will probably pass but I think Stanford is the right side.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Stanford -36
Those are a lot of point so it is going to take most of the game for the score to get comfortable but I am not expecting the Owls to get much done against the Stanford defense.
On offense the Cardinal will be methodical but put enough on the board to make it work for us.
