This ACC matchup features two teams each riding two game winning streaks. The Panthers won a tough conference game against Georgia Tech last week, winning by a field goal.
Virginia got a 2 touchdown victory over the Duke Blue Devils.
I’m expecting a very competitive game with two teams with different offensive philosophies both looking to climb up the conference standings.
Pittsburgh Panthers
Quarterback Nathan Peterman has played mistake free football the last 3 weeks. Against a feisty Yellow Jackets passing defense he was 14-20 for only 192 yards and a score.

Since the offense is focused on running the ball I look for him to manage the game effectively this week, and throw 2 touchdowns without giving up a turnover.
James Conner started the season with 5 straight games with a rushing touchdown, but he was held out of the endzone last week.
He ran the ball 14 times for 60 yards and it looks like the Pittsburgh coaching staff are looking to keep his workload light during the long stretch of conference games.
Expect him to have 15 carries for 80 yards and 2 scores this week.
After a 7 catch 176 yard performance against Marshall, receiver Jester Weah was held in check last week against Georgia Tech. He had only 3 catches for 35 yards but this week expect a 100 yard performance against a suspect Virginia secondary.

The Panthers defense did a good job against the Georgia Tech passing offense last week. They will need to stop the run as the Yellow Jackets famed option attack was able to get 231 yards on the ground and averaged over 5 yards per carry.
Virginia Cavaliers
Eastern Carolina transfer Kurt Benkert has been an offensive revelation for the Cavaliers. In the last two games he has 8 touchdowns with only 2 interceptions, and is averaging 378 yards passing.
He faces a much tougher test in Pittsburgh this week, but I still expect him to throw for over 300 yards and 3 scores.
With the passing game playing as well as they have it was surprising to see that tailback Albert Reid has scored in 4 straight games. Last week against Duke he had only 13 carries for 44 yards and a score.
This week I expect him to have at least 20 carries and score for a 5th straight week.
Olamide Zaccheaus has been one of the key threats in the passing game this season. He has scored in two straight games and last week he had 4 catches for 42 yards. Benkert has been red hot so I expect him and Zaccheaus to hook for 2 long scores in the first half.

The Cavalier defense had a great game against Duke last week.
They forced the Blue Devils passing game into 5 interceptions. They were very opportunistic but I don’t expect another game with that many forced turnovers.
If they do not stop the Panthers running game Nathan Peterman will distribute the ball evenly, and keep the ball out of the defenses hands. Another aspect that can’t be overlooked this game is penalties.
The Cavaliers have averaged 5 a game and penalties could be their downfall in this one.
