The SEC West is arguably the toughest division in college football. Ole Miss has some gaps to fill after losing some players to the NFL, which will cause them to adjust some of their plans.
Still, there is plenty of talent to go around. Do they have enough to grab some wins in marquee games?
Ole Miss Rebels Predictions: Team Strengths
Welcome Back Chad
A good college football team can only go as far as the guy under center. Ole Miss welcomes back the top QB in the SEC in Chad Kelly.
Last season Kelly finished with 4042 yards to go along with 31 touchdowns. Kelly had impressive wins at Alabama and at Auburn last season.

While there are questions surrounding his offensive line, if Kelly can get some protection from what is expected to be a weak line, he could be in store for a giant season.
He showed he has the ability to win big games, home and away, which he’ll certainly need to prove once again this season.
Ole Miss Rebels Predictions: Team Weaknesses
Missing Pieces
Ole Miss has a lot of pieces they need to replace that led them to their 10 wins last season.
Most notably, somebody will have to step up and replace Laquon Treadwell. With him now onto the NFL, this leaves a giant gap within the Ole Miss offense.

While the Rebels have depth at their spot, they don’t have many proven players that can put up numbers anywhere near what Treadwell did.
At the middle linebacker position, the Rebels are in trouble. They didn’t quite get enough talent as they wanted with signing day, thus leaving some gaps within them.
Combine that with two safety positions that need to be filled and there are a lot of defensive gaps the Rebels need to address and figure out.
Identity Revealed Early
The Rebels and their identity of what kind of team they are will certainly be known early on in the season.
Ole Miss gets Florida State, Alabama, and Georgia in 3 of their first 4 games and are projected to be underdogs in 2 of the 3.
While other teams are playing sub division schools in September, the Rebels get zero time to warm up and fit players into positions. They can certainly derail in the first month of the season and set themselves up for a poor time in the SEC West.
Worst case scenario, win 2 of the 3 games. Anything less will likely immediately put them out of the Playoff discussion. Yeah, the pressure is on and on early.
Ole Miss Rebels 2016 Prediction: 9-3
Despite being in the toughest division in college football, Ole Miss continues to produce good seasons.
Over the last two seasons, the Rebels have gone 19-7 overall and 11-5 in the SEC.

It’s no secret though, those first 4 games will determine how the season goes. With Wofford mixed in as a gimme, the Rebels must find a way to not bury themselves in a hole with losses early on.
Ole Miss should be able to take 2 of 3 of the tough games, given that both Alabama and Georgia are at home.
They’ll compete for the SEC West, but the road contests at LSU and Arkansas could cause this team some problems.
