Oklahoma State can afford no slip ups. They are undefeated but have to stay that way to compete in the playoffs.

Iowa State will not be in this game if the Cowboys are focused but this is a classic letdown spot.
Oklahoma State
I am not shocked the Cowboys won last week over TCU but it was surprising to see it in such emphatic fashion. Along the Iowa the nation might be underestimating this group.
The key to the win was getting TCU to turn the ball over. Trevone Boykin threw four picks, that is hard to overcome, I don’t care who you are.

This week they will not need to rely as much on that kind of performance. They are vastly more talented than Iowa State, to the point that they just need to play their game to win.
It will help that QB Mason Rudolph is having a great year and is generally not guilty of getting too greedy.
The Cowboys have won and covered in the last three against the Cyclones. In 2011 the Cyclones upset the Pokes and probably cost them a shot at competing for the title.
Can history repeat itself.
Iowa State
This is not a particularly good Iowa State team this season but they have been pretty sharp at home, in fact a couple of weeks ago they shutout Texas 24-0.
I know Texas is down but this is Iowa State we are talking about too.
The key for them will be staying in the game early and that means being able to put some points on the board. Things didn’t work out with Sam Richardson leading the attack so they have switched to Joel Lanning. He ain’t great but the protects the ball.

The best thing that Iowa State might have going for them in this one is that result from a few years back where OSU stubbed their toe in Ames.
I am not sure there is anyone on either team that played in that game but you can bet it is going to be talked about a lot and maybe it gets in the Cowboys heads and gives ISU a mental edge.
Maybe.

This game is either going to be close or a blowout for Oklahoma State – not another upset. That blowout seems like the far greater likelihood.
