This Big 12 matchup features a talented Sooners team facing the Red Raiders in a tough conference game trip to Lubbock.
Oklahoma is coming off of an easy victory against Kansas State, while Texas Tech had aa bad loss to the Mountaineers
Oklahoma Sooners
Baker Mayfield has thrown at least 2 touchdown passes in every game this season. Going up against the Wildcats he threw for 346 yards with 4 touchdowns and an interception.
[dfads params=’groups=220&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
He also chipped in 5 rushes for 25 yards. He had all day to throw the ball and when he gets time like that he can pick any defense apart.
He is going up against a Red Raiders defense that couldn’t do anything last week against West Virginia, so expect Mayfield to put up huge numbers for the second straight week.
With Samaje Perrine suffering an early first quarter leg injury, Joe Mixon took over the primary running back duties against the Wildcats.
He delivered with 19 carries for 88 yards and 3 catches for 34 yards with a score.
He faces a Red Raiders defense that gave up 332 yards to the Mountaineers at a 7.2 yards per carry clip. Expect 250 total yards from the talented back with 3 scores.

Dede Westbrook and Baker Mayfield have become quite the connection for the Sooners offense. The Wildcats had no answer for Westbrook as he had 9 catches for 184 yards and 3 scores.
He now has 8 receiving touchdowns in the last 3 games after not scoring in the first 3 games of the season.
He will be explosive and unstoppable against the Texas Tech secondary and I’m expecting 150 yards receiving and 2 scores this week.
The Oklahoma defense has been up and down this season.
A part of that is playing against talented offenses, but there have also been bad plays on all levels. Last week against the Wildcats they were able to shut down the offense completely.
They gave up 225 yards passing and only 110 total rushing yards. The defense goes up against an offense known for throwing the ball, so look for the Sooner secondary to be tested plenty in this game.
Texas Tech Red Raiders
Starting QB Patrick Mahome’s stats from last week are misleading. Falling behind early he was forced to throw the ball to try and get them back into the game.
This week I expect him to be behind early again, so expect big numbers but they won’t have an impact on the major outcome of the game.
Demarcus Felton didn’t do much against West Virginia as he ran the ball only 5 times.
If Texas Tech is to pull off the upset this week he needs to carry the ball at least 25 times to keep the Sooners high powered offense off the field.
Jonathan Giles has been a big time receiver in the Big 12 this year.
Last week he burned the Mountaineers secondary for 8 catches, 136 yards and 2 scores. He should have another big game as Texas Tech will be playing from behind for most of it.
[dfads params=’groups=219&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
The Red Raiders couldn’t do anything to stop the Mountaineers last week.
This game against Oklahoma is at home, but I expect the defense to give up early touchdowns in the first half to put the team in a deep hole.
