The high-powered Oklahoma Sooners came up a field goal short against Texas last weekend, and now have to shake off their first loss of the 2018 campaign. Now at 5 – 1, the loss in the Red River Rivalry game dropped the Sooners to #10 in the polls. Although it was one of the best games from week 7, Oklahoma fell in an old fashioned shoot-out to the Horns, 48 – 45.

The TCU Horned Frogs have lost 3 of their last 4 games, as the offense has seemingly disappeared since the beginning of conference play. The Frogs have scored 16, 17, and 14 points in their last three outings, in a BigXII conference that’s not exactly known for its defense.
Oklahoma Sooners
It’s been the same story in Norman that it has been for years, and it simply because the Sooner defense is non-existent. Giving up 500 yards to Texas last weekend in a big rivalry game, sure is a let down especially when your team enters the game 5 – 0. Texas hasn’t been that productive on offense in well over a year, yet the Sooners watched the Horns put up 48 points.
We know the offense has no major issues, because they too put up well over 500 yards in the game last weekend. However, the Sooners did have two big fumbles and 3 offensive penalties that might have changed the outcome.
Kyler Murray did throw on interception as well, although he is still having a spectacular season thus far. Murray’s 21/3 – TD/INT ratio still looks impressive, and he in pace to set some Sooner single season records should he finish strong.

Let’s not leave out that Murray threw for 4 TD and ran for another in the loss to Texas. That’s called stuffing the stat sheet, regardless of the fact that the Sooners lost the game.
The TCU defense will certainly have their hands full this weekend, despite the fact that Oklahoma is coming off a loss from a huge, emotional game last weekend.
TCU Horned Frogs
The TCU Horned Frogs were a little surprised by the Texas Tech defense last weekend. In the 17 – 14 loss to the Red Raiders, the Frogs had four fumbles forced against them, while QB Shawn Robinson threw 2 INTs. The sophomore QB from Desoto, Texas, seems to be struggling with the cast of characters around him. He is certainly capable of moving the ball with his legs and arm, but the TCU running game needs a lot of work.
Robinson led the team in rushing last weekend with only 42 yards, while RB Darius Anderson had 12 carries for 39 yards.
Luckily, the Sooners are coming to town this weekend, and that should sure up some relationships on the offensive side of the ball. The best cure for a struggling offense, is the Oklahoma defense!
Senior wideout KaVontae Turpin took a bit of beating last weekend, and you could see the impact it had on him. He is not listed as questionable at all, but if you watched that game, as I did, you saw he took some big hits last weekend.
[dfads params=’groups=219&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
We can assume he’ll be fine, but he better have a big impact on this game if TCU plans on keeping up with the Oklahoma offense for 60 minutes. Turpin has only caught 24 balls for 2 scores this season, and those numbers need to be improved greatly.
The line setters have offered us a 61 on an Oklahoma total, and that might be the nicest line of the weekend. Despite the TCU sputtering since conference play started, this is Oklahoma on the other side of the field today.

Free Week 8 NCAA Football Pick
The play to make here is on that total, as scary as TCU’s offense has been half way through the season. Oklahoma will not be slowed down enough to stop them from getting 42, and TCU knows they’ll need to score to compete.
