This is not going to be a very star studded affair but give both of these programs just a little bit of credit for not scheduling FCS teams to start the season.
Although Idaho might not be as good as some FCS programs.
Ohio is far from the best program in the MAC but they are usually competitive and in the bowl conversation at the end of the season. For Idaho they are looking for any proof that they are deserving of being in the FBS.

These teams met last season with the Bobcats winning by 12 at home. They covered the spread and the game went over th total with 60 points scored.
Ohio
For the first time in five seasons the Bobcats did not find themselves in the postseason. I might have thought that his success at Ohio might have given coach Frank Solich another shot. If not at the big time than at the medium time or something.
This season the Bobcats are hoping for more out of QB Derrius Vick.
Last year he was more effective than J.D. Sprague and he has more wiggle in the running game too.
Building on his Nebraska roots Solich is always able to manufacture solid running games.
This season he will probably lean even more on A.J. Ouellette, who led the team in rushing as a frosh last season. He had three hundred yard games last season.

Ohio has a pretty decent defense too with Jovon Johnson supplying the pressure. He had 10.5 tackles for a loss last season.
He and defensive end Tarrell Basham are the players the Vandals will have to game plan for if they want to get stuff done on offense.
Idaho
There is no way to sugar coat it. The Vandals are one of the worst program in America with just single win in each of the last three seasons.
After a year as an independent it looks like they have found a home in the Sun Belt. It make no geographic sense but it is better than nothing.
Heading into this season the prospects of getting over that one win hump do not look all that good. Next week this team plays USC, which could be one of the more thorough beat downs of the season.
This year Idaho is hoping that QB Matt Linehan learned what not to do from his 18 interceptions of a year ago. It is tough to really evaluate sometimes how much is his error or his receivers not doing much to get open.
Sadly the best player on the team in most people’s opinions is kicker/punter Austin Rehkow. He just might be the only pro prospect on the field in this one.

No one is getting rich by backing the Vandals this season.
