The Northwestern Wildcats travel to West Lafayette this week to take on the Purdue Boilermakers in a Big Ten West battle.
The Wildcats are hoping to improve their position in the conference, while the Boilermakers are hoping to take advantage of what could be their last shot at bowl eligibility.

The Wildcats have been impressive this year, but they have dropped their last two.
Both were against very tough opponents; they took Ohio State to the wire but lost 24-20 on the road two weeks ago, and they lost at home last week to Wisconsin 21-7.
The Boilermakers have lost their last four including a 44-31 road loss to Minnesota last week. Northwestern won last year’s matchup between these two 21-14.
Northwestern Wildcats
Northwestern has played better than their 4-5 record would indicate this year.
After beginning the season with two baffling losses to Western Michigan and Illinois State, they righted the ship and won four of their next five games.
They have had a tough two-game stretch the last two weeks but gave both opponents a tough battle.

The Wildcats offense is led by sophomore quarterback Clayton Thomas.
Thomas has been good this year, throwing for 2,219 yards and 16 touchdowns to only six interceptions.
However, the rest of the offense only shows up occasionally, and the Wildcats are 96th in the nation in total offense and 106th in scoring offense.
The defense gives up a lot of yards– ranking 68th in total defense– but they keep teams off the board and are 20th in CFB in scoring D.
Purdue Boilermakers
Purdue has been up and down during the 2016 season.
Unfortunately, it has been all down as of late.
They have lost their last four games, all by at least 13 points. So far, they only have one conference win against Illinois. Last week, they lost at Minnesota in a 44-31 shootout.

The Boilermakers have one of the strongest passing attacks in the nation, ranking 16th in CFB with 314.2 yards per game through the air.
They are also led by a very good sophomore quarterback in David Blough. On the year, he has thrown for 2,737 yards and 20 touchdowns but also has 13 interceptions.
Their problems have come on defense where they rank 104th in total defense and 118th in scoring D.

Free Week 11 NCAA Football Prediction
This game may not have much national marquis value, but it means a lot to both of these teams. Northwestern is the more talented team, and despite two losses, they have improved over the last few weeks.
They are also the more balanced team and should be able to exploit Purdue’s weaknesses on defense.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Northwestern -13.5
Purdue has struggled all year and has seemed to be in a tailspin lately.
Their last four games have been lost by large margins, and they have not won at home since September.
Their passing attack may be able to score some points in this game, but the Northwestern defense should be able to handle the one-dimensional attack.
