An unexpected twist to the season has the Buckeyes in a tough spot as they enter Week 9 against Northwestern.
Ohio State fell victim to the whiteout in Penn State and will now have to play catch up here as they try to get back into the BCS Playoff race.
Northwestern Wildcats
The Wildcats don’t typically enjoy their time in Columbus.

Northwestern hasn’t won a game in Columbus since 1971 and to make matters worse on them, they’ll run into a very angry Ohio State team this week.
Northwestern does enter play with some solid momentum, winners of 3 straight games which includes a victory over Indiana on Saturday in a game that was simply one sided.
During this run, the Wildcats are averaging 40 plus points per game and it’s RB Justin Jackson who is carrying the load.

Jackson is averaging 5.1 yards per carry, while adding 3 touchdowns during the streak.
Defensively, the Wildcats need to figure things out. They are allowing almost 300 yards per game through the air, which is something they’ll need to control here against JT Barrett and company.
#8 Ohio State Buckeyes
The Buckeyes simply cannot be pleased after their recent adventure into the whiteout of Penn State.
The rain certainly took a toll on them as they had no offensively production, especially late in the 2nd half.
The turning point of the game took place when the Ohio State field goal was blocked in the 4th quarter, which was ultimately ran back for the go ahead touchdown that turned out to be the winner.

Now, the task is tall for the Buckeyes. They will obviously have to run the table in the Big 10, which includes beating #2 Michigan at the end of the season.
Still, that may not even be enough without some help. Winning and winning big is on Urban Meyer’s mind right now as this Ohio State needs the impressive wins to pile up with the season winding down.
