Though the conference title game will be played in the Tar Heels’ home state, Clemson is hoping to travel north and impose its will thanks to Heisman favorite QB Deshaun Watson.
It will be a tough test for the flawless Tigers, who’ve had a couple of challenges but have been game for all comers. The elite North Carolina quick-strike attack should be truly daunting, however.
College football fans have seem Clemson score with anyone, but can the Brent Venables led-defense hold up against UNC’s high-profile assault?
The same could be said about the job ahead of North Carolina’s defense, but that unit has got its house in order under new defensive co-ordinator – and former Auburn head coach – Gene Chizik. Even the best defense in the land would have trouble with Watson’s multi-faceted attack, though.

North Carolina
Clemson’s secondary must keep up to Carolina’s explosive playmakers. The Heels are tied for ninth in the nation in points per game (41.0) and 18th nationally in rushing yards.
Veteran QB Marquise Williams and RB Elijah Hood run a tight ship offensively. Williams, playing in his hometown at Bank of America Stadium this weekend, racked up 2,605 passing yards, 786 yards on the ground and 28 total TDs. Fellow townie Hood has been a phenomenal partner-in-crime, as the sophomore RB has 1,280 yards and 16 majors on the campaign.
While the offensive prowess is well-documented, the “D” was a mess before Chizik arrived, and there still have been a couple of times this season where they’ve been gouged. Giving up 30+ points to Georgia Tech, Duke and NC State is less than ideal.
Clemson’s attack is considerably more potent than either three of those schools, so Chizik and his brain trust will have to sharpen their pencils on the sideline in Charlotte this Saturday night.

Clemson
The Tigers have run up against some formidable challenges, and come out the better team each time. They despatched a good Florida State side and survived nail-biters versus Notre Dame and in-state rival South Carolina last week in the Battle of the Palmetto State.
As outstanding as he’s been, the success isn’t just attributable to Watson.
Sophomore RB Wayne Gallman has been steady, racking up 1,145 yards to go with nine TDs.
In the air, Clemson relies on Watson getting the ball to Artavis Scott (77 receptions, 709 yards) and the trio of Deon Cain, Charone Peake and Jordan Leggett, who all have at least 30 grabs and five TDs.
Watson, himself, is responsible for 4,000 yards of total offense and 36 total TDs. If you’re not already crowning him for the Heisman Trophy, you probably should.
The combination of this offense, and athletic “D” under co-ordinator Venables and the never-say-die attitude of head coach Dabo Swinney, and Clemson has finally actualized all that potential the program has held for years.
The Tigers underachieved for so long, but it appears that their time in the sun is now.

Free ACC Title Game NCAA Football Prediction
North Carolina is a very good football team in 2015, and if it somehow managed a convincing win over the Tigers, it could even crash the FBS Playoff party, but Clemson has just been rolling like a well-oiled machine all season long.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Clemson ATS
The Tar Heels have proven vulnerable at times despite the high-scoring attack, and the unparalleled Watson has the tools to exploit those weak spots in the improved, but not blemish-free, Carolina defense. Expect a high-scoring affair but Clemson should continue toward its playoff destiny this Saturday night in the Queen City.
