The Blue Raiders have won three of their last four games, while improving their record to 4 – 3 on the year. Senior QB Brent Stockstill isn’t exactly having a stellar final year in a Blue Raider uniform, but he’s done enough to have his team in line for a fourth straight bowl appearance.
Stockstill was injured in the first half of the FIU game before entering last weekend’s contest against Charlotte. The Blue Raiders came away with a 21 – 13 win, and despite only putting up 111 passing yards, three touchdown passes from his left arm were the difference in the game.

The Monarchs came away with an unlikely victory last weekend, beating Western Kentucky 37 – 34 on the road. Old Dominion kicked a last-second field goal to earn their second win of the season, but now must run the table to become bowl eligible.
Junior QB Blake LaRussa put up 327 yards passing in the win, as his confidence continues to grow.
Old Dominion overcame two lost fumbles and nine penalties that cost them 95 yards of field position against WKU.
MTSU Blue Raiders
Senior QB Brent Stockstill has put up almost the exact same numbers he did a season ago for the Blue Raiders. He now has five games remaining in the season to surpass all of those numbers a little further. Stockstill went 138 for 239 in an injury-shortened 2017, and he already completed the exact amount of passes in 2018. He has completed 138 passes on 204 attempts this season, and has only thrown 4 interceptions all season.
Junior wide receiver Ty Lee led the team last weekend against Charlotte, grabbing 6 balls and scoring on two of those receptions. Lee, Brad Anderson and Patrick Smith have been getting the bulk of the receptions from Stockstill this year.
The three have combined for 86 grabs, 943 yards and 7 touchdowns, while Patrick leads the trio with 5 scores.
The issue for the Blue Raiders has been moving the ball on the ground, as was the case again last weekend. Middle Tennessee ran the ball 32 times against Charlotte, and totaled 33 yards.

The offense had three fumbles forced against them, and Stockstill threw a pick that was costly as well.
Tavares Thomas leads the Blue raiders in rushing this season, but has only averaged 3 yards per rush for the year. He’s already carried the ball 55 times, and has only accumulated 166 yards in the ground game.
Old Dominion Monarchs
Old Dominion is having success throwing the ball around the field, but it hasn’t converted to wins in Norfolk, VA. The Monarchs have the nation’s 17th ranked passing attack, but their defense has been a major liability this season.
The defensive team stats are simply atrocious for the Monarchs in 2018, being near dead-last in too many categories. They rank 127th in total yards allowed (514.4 YPG), and 123rd in both rushing defense (235.9) and points allowed (38.5).
Old Dominion escaped Western Kentucky last weekend with a 37 – 34 win that go down in history. An epic ending that saw 25 points in the fourth quarter, all came down to field goal attempts and kick returns being the difference.
Blake LaRussa is certainly grasping the offense, but his defense has simply made it difficult to win games. LaRussa is completing 63.9% of his passes this season, and holds a 12 to 4 TD to INT ratio entering this weekend.

Senior wide receiver Jonathan Duhart has caught almost every ball thrown his way in 2018. He’s caught 52 balls for 811 yards, with 6 touchdowns in seven games for the Monarchs.
The total seems to be where the money will come from, should you fancy a 4* action bet on this game. The 59.5 total is set a little too low for that Old Dominion defense to hold down.
