This Mississippi State Bulldogs are heading to Lexington this week to take on the Kentucky Wildcats in an SEC showdown.
Although championship game is definitely out of reach for both, this game could have serious bowl implications for both programs and should be a hard-fought matchup.

The Bulldogs are coming off a disappointing 28-21 loss in double overtime at BYU last week and hoping to make up for it. Kentucky won their last game with a 20-13 victory over Vanderbilt at home.
The Wildcats are coming off a bye and should be rested and prepared to welcome the Bulldogs.
Mississippi State Bulldogs
The Bulldogs may be 2-4 so far, but they have been competitive in three of the losses.
In those three, they lost by a combined total of 11 points. The season started out on a sour note with a shocking 21-20 home loss to South Alabama, a team they thought would be a nice cupcake opener.

The Post-Dak era for the Bulldogs offense has been pretty awful.
They have only scored more than 21 points once all year. They rank 99th in the county in scoring offense with 24.8 points per game.
Much of the reason has been their total dependence upon quarterback Nick Fitzgerald for every aspect of the offense.
Fitzgerald 998 yards, eight touchdowns and 4 interceptions and leads the team in rushing with 431 yards and two scores.
Kentucky Wildcats
Although they have not been spectacular, the Wildcats have impressed many people so far this year. They are 3-3 with two SEC wins already over South Carolina and Vanderbilt.
For a team that is perennially towards the bottom of the conference rankings, .500 halfway through the season is pretty good.

The Wildcats season starter at quarterback, Drew Barker, was injured earlier in the season causing many people to give up on the year.
Junior Stephen Williams has not been great in his place but the Wildcats are relying on the running game to keep them going.
Running back Stanley Williams leads the rushing attack with 540 yards and two touchdowns.

Free Week 8 NCAA Football Prediction
Many people believe that Mississippi State is better than their 2-4 record indicates. They need to get another conference win here to prove them right.
Their defense is solid, and although it is one-dimensional, the offense should be able to move the ball on a weak Kentucky defense.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Mississippi State -3
The Wildcats are normally a whipping-boy for the rest of the SEC, but they have been trending in the right direction over the last two years. This one will be close, but the Bulldogs have the better quarterback by far.
That will probably be the deciding factor.
