Both the Miami Hurricanes and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are in desperate need of a win this weekend when the two teams take the field at Notre Dame Stadium this Saturday.
Miami was beat down 37-16 by Virginia Tech last weekend for their third loss in a row.

The Irish have had two weeks to prepare for the game but fell by a score of 17-10 the last time they played to the Stanford Cardinals. It was the forth loss for Notre Dame in their previous 5 games.
The Fighting Irish have a 17-7-1 advantage in the series between the two schools, including a 41-3 victory that took place in Chicago during the 2012 season.
You have to go way back to the Catholics vs. Convicts days of 1989 for the last win for Miami which was 27-10.
Miami Hurricanes
The Miami Hurricane started the season off with great expectations and a 4-0 record. They have since been brought back down to reality with three consecutive losses to opponents within their conference.
Miami was able to get as close to 23-16 in the third quarter to Virginia Tech, but failed to make the game any tighter.
The Hurricanes defense was dominated and finished the game allowing 523 yards and 28 first downs to the Hokies.
Regardless of what the Hurricanes were able to do with the ball, there was very little they could do to slow down Virginia Tech at the other end of the field.

The Hurricanes have been solid on offense this season, putting up an average of 246 yards per game through the air, 167.6 on the ground, and 33.7 points on the scoreboard.
Brad Kaaya has tossed the ball for 1,696 yards with 12 touchdown strikes compared to 5 interceptions.
Running back Mark Walton leads the teams ground attack with 604 yards and has galloped into the end zone eight times on 112 carries.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Saying the season has been a let down for Notre Dame may be one of the biggest understatements in college football this season.
The Fighting Irish will not even be bowl eligible unless they are able to find a way to win four of their last five games.
When you consider the inconsistency of their defense, you start to realize just how unrealistic that possibility is.
They were able to gain 307 total yards compared to 296 by Stanford, but it wasn’t enough to lead to a victory.
The defense was finally able to come up with a few turnovers, but the three they had didn’t look so good with the offense giving up two of their own.

Notre Dame wasn’t able to turn the takeaways into points, while the Cardinals were able to return an intercetion to the house for a touchdown.
The Irish have looked good with the ball this year, averaging 413.9 yards and 29.7 points per game.
Meanwhile, the defense has definitely been the weakest link, allowing opposing teams to put an average of 27.7 points each contest.
While that number may not seem too horrible, it was considerably lowered after playing North Carolina State when the weather played better defense then the Irish did.

Free Week 9 NCAA Football Prediction
The Fighting Irish and the Hurricanes have three things in common.
They are both in desperate need of a win, they both have the ability to move the ball up and down the field, and they both have had some struggles this season on defense.
In my mind, this all adds up to a high scoring affair when the two schools meet up in South Bend this weekend.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Total over 58.5
I think we will see plenty of action in this game and the winner very well could be determined by which team is able to capitalize off of a late turnover.
Growing up in Ft. Wayne Indiana, I have learned the hard way about betting on the Irish against the spread. I do feel comfortable though saying there will be plenty of points put up in this one.
