On the hardcourt this would be a desirable matchup but in football it is not much to get excited about, especially since the Tigers have become a program on the rise.
Kansas seems to find the ability to sink to new lows and even though they are under a new regime it does not look like much has changed.
Even though they are heavy favourites the Tigers still can’t take anything for granted. They are just not there as a program.

There have been no recent meetings between these two programs.
Memphis
It is hard to get too much of a read on the Tigers from their opener last week. They crushed Missouri State and it was a total effort.
It was encouraging that they were able to run for more than 300 yards but this program wants to be more balanced in the future. Mixing in the throwing of Paxton Lynch who looked sharp in this tuneup game.
It has been the defense that has led the program resurgence and they dominated, holding Mizzou State to less than 150 total yards.

They also did a good job forcing turnovers, recovering three fumbles.
It won’t be as easy as it looked last week but I suppose it is a step forward for Memphis that they too are now crushing FCS foes and leaving little doubt. That is what the big boys are supposed to do.
Kansas
The Jayhawks did not have the same experience in their opener, a loss to South Dakota State. Now the other SDSU is a solid FCS program but the reality is Kansas was fortunate to make the final score respectable after getting down 31-7.
Kansas was very sloppy with seven penalties when they should be able to use their athleticism over match their opponents. Even though this program is limited.
There were some positives.
QB Montell Cozart was productive running and throwing, it looks like they have a playmakers at the most important position and they are going to need one. Also, RB Ke’Aun Kinner had a big day in his first taste of FBS action after playing junior college ball.

After losing at home as a favourite last week it is not very promising with a more physical opponent visiting.

Week 2 NCAA Football Prediction
Both teams possess offensive weapons that have been key in victories this season. Both teams have top 20 ranked rush defenses. The pure athleticism of Jay Ajayi, though, will show that rankings aren’t always everything.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Memphis -13.5
I am still getting used to Memphis being a play on team. Even though they are stepping up in competition, in theory, they will once again win easily. It might not be a bad idea to fade KU until proven wrong.
