LSU looks to continue its ascent with a win over the struggling Gamecocks.
South Carolina may be the worst it has been since Steve Spurrier got there but you never know with the old ball coach.

Before the season this might have been a landmine for LSU but now it is looking like an easy W.
LSU
Where do you start when talking about LSU. Do you start with the 4-0 record, one of only two undefeated teams in the vaunted SEC West…or do you with the incomparable Leonard Fournette. Both are reasons to keep them in the conversation.
The team as a whole looks good but there are a bunch of challenges on the horizon if they are going to make it to playoffs. They are good enough though.

Last week Fournette continued to build his lead in the Heisman race by ripping off another 200 yards performance. Even though it was against Eastern Michigan it takes nothing away from the fact he is the most imposing player in the college game right now.
Personally I would have thought that the defense might have been a little more stout against the likes of EMU and Syracuse the week before that. Just another reminder that young players can be caught coasting from time to time.
Look for a more focused effort in this one.
South Carolina
The Gamecocks are 0-3 in SEC play this season and are very much in danger of losing all of their conference games. Even though they are at home I am not giving them much of a chance to dump soaring LSU.
It might not have made much of a difference but they are still awaiting the return of starting QB Connor Mitch. His replacement Lorenzo Nunez has tried his best but it is clear that he is in over his head – and banged up too…he is probable this weekend.

Even though Steve Spurrier is an offense guy the Gamecocks have had more than their fair share of high end defensive talent over the last few years. That seems to have run dry and this team is struggling to stop people.
The Gamecocks have only beaten LSU twice in their history and not since 1994. I don’t see that trend coming to an end this weekend.

LSU should be pushed more than they have been the last couple of weeks but this should still be an easy win.

Leonard Fournette can easily continue his streak of 200+ yard games against SC, continuing to build his Heisman profile.
