This is a good game between good teams but it looks like it is mostly going to be about bowl slotting at this point.

Look for lots of hard hitting in a classic SEC slugfest.
LSU
The Tigers have lost their last two games and are in danger of finishing a season with so much promise with a thud. The schedule is not very forgiving either.
The losses should really not be much of a surprise though as their opponents were able to corral Leonard Fournette leaving the team with little to turn to on the offense side of things.

This week they will be facing another stiff test against the Rebels, one of the better defensive teams in the country. The key will of course be getting Fournette untracked but they also need something else in support.
It has been amazing the way the Tigers have not been able to continually develop competent quarterbacks as they are very strong at pretty much every other position.
Ole Miss
I think Ole Miss still has a shot at the division title by virtue of their win over Alabama earlier in the season. Of course they need to keep winning for that to be relevant.
Last week they lost a heartbreaker to Arkansas in overtime. It was one of those emotional games where you definitely wouldn’t be surprised if they came out flat the next time. Especially after losing at home.
The funny thing about that one was the way the defense fell apart and it wasn’t because they were getting run over. They gave up a ton through the air to the Razorbacks.

Their own offense was pretty great as Chad Kelly had his most productive game of the year, throwing for 368 yards while also leading the team in rushing with 110 yards. LSU should present a stiffer defensive test this week.
Odds are neither of these teams is going to win the division so essentially they are playing for the #2 slot in the nation’s toughest division. That is still pretty meaningful.
