Reigning Heisman trophy winner Lamar Jackson and the 16th ranked Louisville Cardinals travel to do battle against the Purdue Boilermakers at Lucas Oil Stadium. Both teams should be ready in anticipation for the season.
[dfads params=’groups=220&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
The Cardinals finished last season 9-4 overall and 7-1 in ACC play losing only to National Champion Clemson. The Boilermakers finished 2016 3-9 overall and 1-8 in the Big 10 West conference.
In the home opener, Purdue must figure out how to contain Lamar Jackson. It’s won’t be easy.
Louisville Cardinals
The Cardinals are excited to see the new talent they have coming in this season. We all know what Lamar Jackson is capable (5,100 total yards capable) of doing, but where will the rest of the offense come from? The team only returns four starters from last years offense.
The Cardinals offense could run into problems in the beginning stages of the season. With Jackson’s top three receivers gone, Seth Dawkins could emerge as the unknown play maker for the Cardinals offense.
Keep an eye on Charles Standberry at tight end and junior Devante Peete at receiver to be leaders at the skill positions.

Peter Sirmon is the new defensive coordinator for Louisville.
He inherits what should be a good defense. The Secondary should be strong in 2017 they return all four starters from last season. Drew Bailey and James Hearns will be leaders on the Cardinals defensive line and linebacker core.
Purdue Boilermakers
The Boilermakers are hopeful to be better in 2017. One win in conference play won’t be tolerated at Purdue.
This season new head coach Jeff Brohm takes over the Purdue program. Fans are hopeful he does better than 1-8 in conference play.
David Blough will lead the Boilermakers at quarterback again this season. He passed for 3,352 yards and 25 touchdowns last year. He will be helped by a collection of five running backs all that can produce for the Boilermakers.
[dfads params=’groups=219&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
The Purdue defense returns six starters from a group that allowed 38 points per game in 2016. Markus Bailey will return at linebacker. He lead the team with 96 tackles last season.
The secondary remains a big question mark for the boilermakers. That might not be good against a team like Louisville to open the year.

Free Week 2 NCAA Football Pick
The Cardinals and Boilermakers are ready to roll for the season opener. Purdue lacks at all positions on both sides of the ball again this year. Louisville on the other hand returns the Nations best player in Lamar Jackson who should torch the Boilermaker defense Saturday.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Louisville -24.5.
When the Louisville Cardinals take the field against the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday, don’t be surprised if the Cardinals are slow to get going on offense. With Lamar Jackson’s lack of accuracy this could be an issue throughout the game.
Even if Jackson has issues completing passes, he will still deliver big with his legs. David Blough will make some plays to keep it close, but not enough to get it done for the win. The Cardinals will win, and barley cover. Take the Cardinals tonight.
