Conference action takes center stage on Thursday night in Bowling Green, Kentucky as the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs travel to take on the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in Week 2. Both of these teams are picked to be in the top tier of C-USA, which makes this game much more important.
Both teams enter Thursday’s contest coming off wins in their opening week of the season.

The home team, Western Kentucky, got an impressive road win at SEC opponent Vanderbilt in Week 1. The Hilltoppers needed a late 2nd half surge to finish off a comeback in a defensive struggle.
Louisiana Tech on the other hand had a much easier task as they got a date with the Southern Jaguars. The Bulldogs did just as expected as they easily handled the Jags and got QB Jeff Driskel familiar with the offense.
Kickoff is set for 8:00 PM EST on Fox Sports 1.
Louisiana Tech
The Bulldogs felt having to play one of the best offenses in C-USA in just week 2 was a major disadvantage to them. With short rest and the tough task of having just 5 days to prep for the Hilltoppers, Louisiana Tech got their starters a much needed break as they rolled over the Southern Jaguars in Week 1.
Louisiana Tech dominated from the outset as they cruised to a 62-15 victory. Their starters played about an quarter and a half before turning it over to the reserves, who did just as well.

QB Jeff Driskel, a transfer from Florida, had 5 total TDs in the team’s opening game as he threw for 4 and rushed for another.
As far as action was concerned, Driskel saw about 33 snaps, while his main targets this year like Kenneth Dixon saw only 25 snaps.
Most importantly, the defense got about the same number of reps, which will prove to be very important as they will have fresh legs trying to chase these Hilltoppers’ receivers all over the field come Thursday.
Western Kentucky
The Hilltoppers players were seen quoting on the sideline “They’re supposed to be SEC,” following their victory at Vanderbilt in Week 1. Even though Western Kentucky came into the game as a 2.5 point favorite, beating any SEC team in their house is worth a notable win.
Still, Western Kentucky saw their high powered offense struggle at times and will have some kinks to work out when they get set to return home here in Week 2.

QB Brandon Doughty threw for 209 yards and 1 touchdown in the win which is well below his normal averages from 2014, but against a much tougher and more physical defense, the 0 turnovers is the biggest key.
The Hilltoppers defense, which was their biggest question mark heading into this season, forced 3 Vanderbilt turnovers in the win.
Western Kentucky’s defense held strong as they saw Vanderbilt score with just 33 seconds left, but turned away the 2 point conversion attempt.
If the Hilltoppers defense can play like they did in Vanderbilt all season long, look out. This team has the potential to really do some damage in C-USA.

Free Week 2 NCAA Football Prediction
Both teams need this game if they hope to compete for a top spot C-USA. A loss here will most certainly come back to haunt one of these two teams later in the season.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Western Kentucky ATS
The Hilltoppers are just a much better team and with the way their defense played in Week 1 against an SEC opponent, it’s tough not to back them here at this small of a number.
