This Big 12 matchup features two of the lower tier teams as the Iowa State Cyclones get set to take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Saturday.
Iowa State comes in off a victory over Kansas, which was a welcoming sight as they struggled during their non conference slate of games.

Texas Tech will be excited to not see TCU or Baylor walk through those doors come Saturday.
The Red Raiders have had to deal with the top 2 teams in the Big 12 back-to-back weeks to open their conference slate.
Iowa State
The Cyclones struggled during their non conference games, but got back on track last week with their win over the lowly Kansas Jayhawks.
The Cyclones used the play of RB Mike Warren to spring their offense. Warren has rushed for a combined 301 yards over the last 2 contests and will play a big role in the Cyclones offense this week against a weak Texas Tech defense.

QB Sam Richardson continued to struggle, even through the win as he threw for 2 interceptions against the Jayhawks last week. Richardson has continued to struggle with taking care of the ball, something he’ll have to do this week as Texas Tech is a real all or nothing defense when it comes to jumping routes.
The Cyclones bright spot comes defensively in DE Dale Pierson. The DE is 2nd in the conference with 6 sacks and is causing havoc up front. Expect a couple double teams on him as he’ll be in full force trying to get in the Red Raiders back field this game.
Texas Tech
The Red Raiders offense is one of the most threatening out there. Unfortunately for them, they’ve had to deal with TCU and Baylor to start their conference schedule off.
They nearly and probably should have beaten TCU, but a tipped pass in the endzone on the Horned Frogs last breath was caught in the back of the end zone.
Last week, Texas Tech really stood no chance as Baylor literally ran up and down the field on them en route to a blowout win.

Still, Texas Tech continues to push and should have plenty of success this week against Iowa State. QB Patrick Mahomes has thrown for 14 touchdowns and ran for 6 through the Red Raiders first 5 games.
Mahomes leads the conference with 211 pass attempts on the season and will likely add a lot to that number come Saturday. The key for him has been the amount of time his line has given him. The Red Raiders offensive line has allowed just one sack this season.
The Red Raiders offense has been so good that 9 different receivers currently have at least 1 touchdown reception.
