The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders will face the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors on Christmas eve in the Hawaii Bowl. Middle Tennessee finished the season with an 8-4 record, while Hawaii finished with an unimpressive 6-7.
Both teams won their final two games of the season after losing the previous two, rallying back for a stronger finish after a slide.
Both of these team will look to get one more win to finish off the season when Christmas eve rolls around.
MTSU Blue Raiders
The Blue Raiders have the ninth ranked offense in the nation. Putting up points comes with ease for this team. That is thanks to a well balanced, multi faceted attack that allows them to attack their opposition’s weaknesses.
To begin, quarterback Brent Stockstill posted efficient numbers this season. He completed 63.9% of his passes on his way to 2801 yards and 27 touchdowns and just five interceptions.

He was also third on the team rushing, having carried 42 times for 232 yards. Combined, the team scored 35 times through the air.
Richie James was unquestionably the team’s best receiver. He caught 97 passes for 1463 yards and 11 scores. He ran for an additional 300 yards and four touchdowns, putting his touchdown total at 15.
He had at least 70 yards in every single game, and went over the 100 mark eight times. That’s 75% of his games with triple digit receiving yardage.
When it comes to the ground game, I’Tavius Mathers has been the workhorse for Middle Tennessee. He has done nothing but impress.
He averaged 6.8 yards per carry and ran for a very solid 1504 yards. He found pay dirt 16 times through the season. In addition to his work load on the ground, he caught 62 passes for 589 yards and three touchdowns.

The versatile back is a major key to the success of the Blue Raiders.
Hawaii Warriors
Hawaii’s defense ranks 108 out of 128 qualifying schools.
They can’t stop anybody, and a well rounded, multi dimensional attack like that of Middle Tennessee will be far more than they are able to stop.
They allow almost 240 yards per game on the ground, which is good for a bottom ten run defense in the nation. Their passing defense is only a little bit better, ranking 98th in the country.
The passing offense of the Rainbow Warriors isn’t impressive. Two quarterbacks who saw playing time during the season have combined for a total of 21 team passing touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
Despite the inefficiency of these quarterbacks, talented receiver Marcus Kemp had 1036 receiving yards and seven of these scores.
The next leading receiver behind him has only half his yardage, showing that Hawaii largely relies on Kemp in the passing game.

Diocemy Saint Juste was Hawaii’s leading rusher yards wise, gaining 836 yards and just three touchdowns.
The majority of the touchdowns went to running back Steven Lakalaka, who found the end zone a dozen times.
Saint Juste and Lakalaka are Hawaii’s one-two punch at running back and provide a big portion of the team’s offense.
