The Rainbow Warriors of Hawaii will fly halfway across the Pacific to face the Spartans of San Jose State this Saturday.
This should be a close game and a fun one to watch if you like seeing the scoreboard light up. Both offenses like to score points and both defenses seem unable to keep it from happening.
It will also be one of the few west coast games that fans will not have to stay up late to watch.

While this may not determine the winner of the conference, this game is important for both teams to improve their respective records in the Mountain West.
It can also go a long way to help both teams turn around what have been unimpressive seasons so far.
San Jose State has had only one victory, a 66-35 win over the Portland State Vikings, but they have a great opportunity to get their second this week at home.
Hawaii Rainbow Warriors
The season has been up and down for the Warriors this year.
While no one is impressed with a 2-3 record, they have beaten the teams they were supposed to beat.
Their losses have come against very tough opponents with superior talent, starting with a 51-31 loss to Cal in week one. They were demolished by Michigan 63-3 the following week at the Big House.
It was the only game of the year in which they were held to under 28 points. They came back strong the next week to defeat UTM 41-36 and fought hard in a losing effort against Arizona after that.

Hawaii is coming off a 31-17 win against Nevada, a game in which Nevada was held to only three points until garbage time.
The Rainbow Warriors, in addition to having one of the best nicknames in college football history, are led by an equally awesome-named running back in Diocemy Sainte Just. Sainte Juste ran for 205 yards in last week’s victory over Nevada.
The biggest problems for Hawaii this year have, and they seemed to have improved last week.
However, that is not saying much, as they still rank 123rd nationally in yards allowed with 507.8 per game and 124th in points allowed with 42.8 per game.
San Jose State Spartans
The San Jose State Spartans have been disappointing so far this year. They began the year being manhandled in Tulsa where they were blown out 45-10.
They came back strong the next week at home and put 66 on Portland State. Then their offense seemed to disappear again in consecutive losses versus Utah (34-17) and at Iowa State (44-10).
Granted, these were teams they were expected to lose to, but a close 48-41 loss to New Mexico last week was disappointing.

The Spartans are very similar in their strengths and weaknesses to their opponents this weak. The offense can put point on the board, but they seem incapable of stopping anyone on the other side of the ball.
They allowed 446 yards rushing in last weeks loss to the Lobos and are allowing 268.2 per game.
They rank only two spots ahead of Hawaii in points allowed per game with 41.2 and average 484 yards allowed.
NCAA Football Handicapping Trends

Free Week 6 NCAA Football Prediction
Both teams are struggling to find an identity this year and have similar records. Hawaii has faced slightly tougher competition and has won the games they were supposed to.
San Jose State, on the other hand has been unpredictable from week to week.
4* Free NCAA Betting Pick: Hawaii +3.5
If you like old-fashioned, smash-mouth, defensive football, don’t watch this game. This one should be all about who can put up the most points and hold on late.
Spartan Stadium is not an easy place to play, but Hawaii has shown themselves more capable of consistently putting up points.
Hawaii has a much better running attack than the one that gashed the Spartans last week, and that may be the difference in this game.
