Believe it or not, this is one of the biggest games in college football this weekend. Georgia and Kentucky will effectively be playing for the SEC East crown and a chance to play in Atlanta in the SEC Championship. The loser of this game will be eliminated from the College Football Playoff and will basically be playing for a New Years’ Six Bowl.

Georgia easily won last year, beating the Wildcats 42-13. The Bulldogs have won 8 straight meetings with Kentucky, but with the Cats having improved greatly this season, it may be closer than most people think.
Georgia Bulldogs
The Bulldogs bounced back after a crushing defeat to LSU, when they beat their rival, Florida 36-17 this past week. Georgia remains in the race for a top 4 spot, and basically have to win out.
The Bulldogs offense has clearly dropped off since last year. The loss of Nick Chubb and Sony Michel to the NFL has really shown how much they relied on their two star running backs. With that being said, Elijah Holyfield is starting to make a name for himself with his 559 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns.
Also, DeAndre Swift has contributed 6 total touchdowns. The key for the Bulldogs however, is for their quarterback, Jake Fromm to have a clean an efficient game.

Georgia’s defense has also seemed less effective than they were last year. They still rank 12th in the country with 16.4 points allowed per game. Also, they are 9th against the pass an allow 165.6 passing yards per game.
The Bulldogs run defense has been the part of the defense that is worrying. They allow an average of 140.5 rushing yards per game, which ranks 43rd in the country. Since Kentucky loves to run the ball with Benny Snell Jr, Georgia is going to have to find a way to slow him down.
Kentucky Wildcats
The Wildcats won at Missouri last week due to a touchdown on an un-timed down.
The Wildcats now return home for what is perhaps the biggest game they have played in many years. If the Wildcats manage to win, they will effectively clinch a berth in the SEC Championship game, which is crazy because Kentucky is pretty much only known for their elite basketball program.
As successful as Kentucky has been, they do not have the offensive stats to back it up. Luckily, they have the leading rusher in the SEC, Benny Snell Jr, who has 960 yards on the ground. Establishing the run will be vital to the Wildcats in this matchup if they are going to win the SEC East.

It is worth noting that the Wildcats are ranked 2nd in points allowed per game, with 13. Overall, they have a solid defense, but they have not really played a team with an offense like Georgia.
If the defense can keep this a low scoring game, they may have a chance to pull the upset.
