Not often do you see a team give up forty points, lose by double-digits and come back the next week as five-touchdown favorites.

But those set of circumstances describe the Memphis Tigers, which returns home to play UConn, the only other 0–2 team in the American.
Connecticut Huskies
For what it’s worth, UConn is pretty dreadful, which can help explain a part of why Memphis is such a huge favorite this week, despite being winless in the conference thus far.
The Huskies have gotten beaten badly four times, by forty-one against UCF, fifty-five against Boise State, thirty at Syracuse and forty-two against Cincinnati. Their only win came by seven, at home against Rhode Island in a shootout.

Quarterback David Pindell has completed over sixty-one percent of his passes this season for a passer rating over 120. He also leads the running game with 432 yards on 5.5 yards per carry and four touchdowns.
But the defense simply can’t stop anybody. It has given up 113 points in two true road games and Memphis should be in line for a fifty burger, at least.
Memphis Tigers
There’s still a long way to go in the American West division, but Memphis’ 0–2 start has to turn around quick if it wants any chance to even sniff the top of the standings.
The Tigers ought to break through soon. Their only two conference games have both been on the road and the first was a one-point loss at Navy when the Midshipmen scored two unanswered fourth quarter touchdowns to complete the comeback.

Brady White took care of the ball for the Tigers but the defense didn’t provide any sort of resistance to Tulane’s ground game, which gained 318 yards on 56 carries and accounted for four touchdowns.
Junior Memphis receiver John Pop Williams caught three balls for 56 yards after scoring his first touchdown of the season in the week prior.

Free Week 6 NCAA Football Pick: Memphis wins, but not by enough.
The Tigers will certainly win this game but thirty-five points are a lot. UConn isn’t terrible on offense and all they’ll have to score is a couple touchdowns to keep this within the number. I don’t trust Memphis’ defense to stay strong till the end and cover.
