This matchup features the Huskies traveling to Massachusetts to face the Eagles.
Connecticut has lost 3 in a row and Boston College is in a 2 game losing streak of their own.
Connecticut Huskies
Uconn QB Donovan Williams filled in for Bryant Sherrifs and played horrible last week. The true freshman QB threw for only 69 yards, and was sacked 5 times.
[dfads params=’groups=220&limit=1&return_javascript=1′]
He did have a bright spot running the ball as he picked up 66 yards on the ground.
Having a true freshman face a tough Temple defense is a daunting task, Boston College should be easier, but still having a true freshman on the road is always a tricky situation.
I expect him to make a few costly mistakes, and throw 3 interceptions in this game.
Arkeel Newsome couldn’t get anything going last week.
The talented running back started the season off hot, but has cooled down considerably the last 2 weeks. He had under 25 yards rushing against the Owls, and unless he gets the ball 25+ times it will be a day full of 3 and outs for the Huskies offense.
Noel Thomas has been one of the best receivers in the conference, but last week he felt the effects of poor QB play, as he finished the game with only 4 catches for 32 yards.
This week should be another tough outing for him with the freshman under center, so look for a second straight game under 50 yards.

The Huskies were held scoreless last week, but the defense did hold the Owls scoreless the last 3 quarters of the game, so there was progress from the unit.
I expect a back and forth game between two bad offenses, so expect 2 interceptions by the defensive backs.
Boston College Eagles
Boston College’s optimism at their 4-4 record has come to a crashing halt the last two weeks. They were blasted by Louisville and Florida State by a combined score of 97-14.
Quarterback Patrick Towles was just 3-11 against the Seminoles for 29 yards passing. He was also sacked 3 times. He will need to not only remain upright, but be accurate against a UConn defense that can be opportunistic at times.
I expect him to throw for 200 yards and 2 scores with 2 interceptions in this game.
After a good performance against the NC State Wolfpack, Jon Hilliman has also come back to reality the last two games.
He isn’t a threat receiving the ball out of the backfield, but the Boston College coaching staff would be wise to make sure he gets the ball 20+ times in this game as they will want to keep the defense off of the field.

The Boston College defense has faced it’s too toughest opponents of the season, and gave up 2 disastrous games. Can they turn things around this week?
They face a freshman QB, at home, with a running back who hasn’t run with the same explosiveness as he did at the start of the season.
I expect a big game from this defense and they should force a whopping 5 turnovers.
Stopping the run should be the main focus this week. If the unit can contain Newsome and force the freshman to throw the ball, it will be an easy victory for the Eagles, getting them one step closer to bowl eligibility.
